    Arizona Desert Challenge 3/19/11

Well it was a good turn out for 10th planet. Total we had 6 competitors 4 adults and 2 kids. We came tried to wreck as much house as possible. We had 2 adults competing in the Gi class. Both took home medals Brad Hallin a Bronze and Moses Solis a gold. Brad was unable to compete in the no Gi due to catching a tooth in his 2nd match and gouging an ear (Left to hospital, update from him is 4 stitches, and a tetanus shot and antibiotics). The rest of us went on, Kids division had Noah (@Lightweight) taking a 2nd and Zack (@featherweight) taking a loss in his 2nd match (for 3rd place) by kamura. Josh Mcguire in the adults Div (165) took a loss on points. Moses (@135-147) took bronze. This was my 1st competition weighed in @ 132, 1st match won on points, 2nd match win by sub via triangle. 3rd match (the controversy...Guy they put my up against gets a bye to the finals has had to touch the mat) he's 100% fresh, i lose on points 4-0. So i take a silver. All in all it was a awesome turnout, and awesome experience. We were there to support one another like out 10th Planet family always does. THanks goes out the everyone that came to support and especially John Botello for the instruction and confidence in all of us. Vids should be posted soon.

Gratz you guys. Sorry about the way your last match was up against a fresh guy. You know what? Let that make you better. Expect that EVERY single tournament they're going to put us 10PJJ guys vs fresh guys who get byes. Train your ass off so that fatigue is less of a factor. You the man Luis.

It was fun to try the Gi division for the first time after wearing it twice to class. Thanks to John Botello for the video link on how to tie the belt, so I didn't look like a complete newbie. Certainly a learning experience on the amount of control someone has over you by grabbing your Gi. But, it was fun to try to use purely our stuff in that division. And, it was fun to watch MTRG DVD that morning to hear Eddie talk about pulling guard and then pull half guard and use the Electric Chair to get out from the bottom (guy was flexible).

Can't wait for the next tourney. But, next up - Einstein's seminar. I'll be there, just wearing headgear to cover the stitches...

God fun was had by all. Win or lose is experience. Cant really test yourself till you try it on someone that may not know what's coming. Feel free to stop by and analyze the vids we were able to capture.
