Shooting a new 10th Planet Vancouver Commercial - Ideas?

Hey guys!
Were shooting a new 10th Planet commercial for Vancouver and wanted some ideas on what would sell you on joining a 10th Planet Club?

I think this one is to dark with a mean overtone and want to go for something lighter. We have a crane, dolly track, top of the line cameras and ready to rock!

Do you have a kids class? They're the future. Your commercial is bad ass but it would appeal mostly to fighters. I've trained around fighters my whole life they don't pay the rent kids and families do. We have a kick ass mma program but we bill ourselves as a family friendly club.

I think you should mix in a bunch of other BC activities. Like Snowboarding, Skiing, Skateboarding, Biking, Hockey, Sailing, Base Jumping, whatever. But use students who do these activites and also do 10th Planet JJ. Its a way to promote the fitness of JJ as a benefit to all the other activities. You may inspire the local extreme sports crowd to want to stay fit using 10PJJ so they can excel in the other sports they love. Certainly an original angle.

Super dope! You know, I want a commercial exactly like that and was going to ask you to do the exact same thing for me, but without the Vancouver name. I think it's perfect. Nonetheless, however, I would love to see the alternative you speak of.

Dude, who cares what idea you use....your vids and promos are always high quality. I felt good about my first commercial and then you blasted yours and I was embarrased... it was like a home movie of my fat uncles birthday party next to a big budget summer blockbuster.... Im sure it will kill no matter what you do

You know, I'm a little worried about starting, thus depending on a kid's program, because we have a very adult website, in some sense; and, in very public way, we are into what we're into.

I guess it depends on your demographic. However, once some parents see some of the controversial adult stuff we go off about, and potentially don't want their kid to be negatively influenced, and then tell another parent, who tells another parent, blah, blah, it could mean lost members.

I have a friend who owns a TMA school here, and he warned me against that. But, then again he has his biases about MMA. Anyways, parents love to gossip, and then when broken telephone happen, shit turn into something it's not. Thoughts?

I guess it depends on your target audience. I was going to go +1 on the family-friendly idea but you know your market, not me. You might be onto something shooting for the more "hard core" fighter crowd if there are already plenty of family-friendly-type places around. The guys who REALLY want to fight and not just play at it might be frustrated with the plethora of gyms dedicated more to just fitness than actual competition. If you're not in too much of a time crunch and you have the resources for such a big shoot it might be worth hiring a PR firm to do some market research for you. Find the niche that isn't being exploited and aim there.

I think your advertisement should focus on conveying the subculture and tone of your gym. Eddie's promos for his MTRG DVD as well as his intro for it, do that incredibly well. The only other grappling example I can think of are Reilly Bodycomb's promos for his leg lock DVD's. Both promos are just straight footage mixed with good music that represents their vibe.

They honestly remind me of the commercials for early 90's Skateboard companies. 50/50 montage clips of screwing around and skating footage designed to sell a sense of subculture more than an actual product.
