The Impact Eddie Bravo has had On YOU

This is not some gay nutt hugging thread. Let me tell you. As a karate guy i thought my way was the way. I trained with legends. I remember Mike Stone telling me "you don't need to worry about that ground stuff, if someone trys to take me to the ground I'll bite. claw" hell fuck something like that i dont remember. Shit.

I remember throwing skip kicks and eveything against my friend who played football and only watched UFC. everytime we sparred he tapped me out.. now that i have a year and few months on him in jitzu i tap him easily and he still out weights me by 60 pounds. Hey. thats the power of jitzu. but that has nothing to do with mr bravo or does it.

the first book i picked up and studied in jitsu was mastering the rubber guard. i remember i showed it to my taekwondo teacher and he thought it was shit. cux all you had to do was "bite" and everything would be okay. i was a good point sparring guy. but now i train with proffessionals from strike force and all kinds of leagues. Team Paragon. i get crushed . MMa is the most complete way of fighting and rubber guard is the best way of breaking a man down and containing him to work a guard system.

anyhow i thought eddie was cool from the prolouge or however you spell the shit. being agnostic myself and open minded to all things not just religion is the best way to approach things. If you don't empty your cup how can you fill it with more delicious drink? Bruce lee taught that 40 years ago. anyhow Eddie Bravo is the fucking man. We all know this.

Eddie changed my life !!!!!!! I met him at the Arnold Festval . I was contacted to do the kids first amature MMA match at the event. It turned out to be a cluster and Ohio State shut it down, would not let anyone under 18 fight, thats after I traveled 12 hours to do it. The guys putting on tournament said, How about we get you into the Eddie Bravo seminar, to try and make it up to me. I had heard of him, but wouldn't have known him if he was standing next to me.LOL.

I did the seminar, it was awesome. I think he was kinda impressed with how fast I picked stuff up. I was the only little kid in the place. I remember he kept swearing and catching himself, and saying sorry. Finally my dad told him, I had grown up in gyms and he didn't have to watch what he said. He was releaved.LOL.

He was supposed to do like 2 hours, and I remember he did like 4. I knew that was the system for me right there. I knew I needed a ground game to make my MMA dreams come true. and 10th planet is what I knew would work for me.

At the end of seminar he asked my name , I told him Conner........... but people call me Machine. He laughed and said, I bet they do.
He yelled to everyone in the room, Hey take a good look at this kid..... Conner The Machine. 8 years from now he's going to be one bad mother fu@ker.

He told me to keep in touch with him, and I did. We have stayed in contact for over 2 years. His advice and guidance means a ton to me, and he's always willing to share it with me. I consider him my long distance Sensai and my friend.

Eddie really encouraged me to set an example in my own school, by out training and out sparring my students. And also to COMPETE. That really encouraged me to really increase the overall level of my Jiu Jitsu. I was really tearing it up for a while, until I got hurt. But my comeback is in the horizon.

Kiko, I hurt my ankle and calf really bad a few months back. Now that is mostly healed, but my lower back has been giving me a lot of problems since that injury. Maybe the leg injuries have affected my back.
