A NON RACIST Observation - The Super Athlete

The reason I stressed that I'm not trying to be racist by posting this is because I don't want to offend anyone. I understand that the subject is inherently "racist", but I have absolutely nothing against people of any race. I don't think of them differently, I have friends who are black, white, indian, asian, etc. I just wanted to be able to discuss this topic and didn't want people taking it the wrong way. For those of you who were offended I sincerely apologize. If there were any better way to approach the subject I couldn't think of it. Anyway, hopefully no one took this the wrong way because I just wanted to see what people thought on the issue, I in no way intended to insult anyone and I certainly don't want anyone to look at me differently because I don't consider myself to be a racist by ANY definition of the word.

I agree...racism is pretty fucking obvious. Look...disagreeing with me being a black dude is not being racist....even if it is on a "black issue". People have become incredibly thin skinned, especially on the internet. You sit down with a guy and a beer and you look at things a lot differently. When I was 21, anything a white dude said to me critical was racist or had racial undertones. Of course I went to an extremely liberal college that almost taught you victimhood in the curiculumn.

So basically, I understand someone being squeamish about bringing it up. And as I said before culture is probably a bigger factor than race, although Bones is a middle-class educated kid from a athletic family. However, most people who have the means don't decide to take up a career that requires you beat or choke their opponent unconscious.

I agree that hard work can supersede athletic ability, but the thing is, when a sport grows to mainstream popularity the way MMA has, it generates a large group of people who are all willing to work as hard as they possibly can, at maximum potential, in order to compete at the highest level. So if all of the up-and-comers are working equally hard, then natural athletic ability will still rise to the top. Yes, if you take a jon jones who doesn't train hard against a chris leben who trains his ass off, then the less athletic fighter might be able to win, but when you have both training equally as hard, the bigger/stronger/better conditioned ATHLETE is going to win the majority of the time.

Personally, I consider myself to be a student of physical fitness, as im sure many of the 10PJJers are, so what I'm curious about is why the "super athletes" who we see competing and make us sit back and go "damn that guy is fucking INSANE"... why are they usually black? Is it the super slave theory? Is it genetics from before slavery in the US? Is it just that some black people push themselves further than others? I'd love to hear from someone who has some research experience on this subject rather than people like me who are just throwing out questions looking for answers.

Americans seem to be the only people who see black people with a super athlete view, this is non existent in Europe. The way sports seem to shape up is that white people seem to be stronger than black people, but black people seem to be faster. This is the dilemma there are so many different races and we don't truly know what all the races have to offer as some are under a form of communist rule or to poor to compete. Boxing was dominated by Black athletes until the giant Slavs came in to the picture, and now white people dominate boxing. The reason why these fighters weren't able to compete in boxing, because communism did not allow them to become professional fighters.

I guess public education is lacking these days, but you do realize slavery was widespread in Europe as well As the US right? Spain was a big supporter, but most European Nations abolished it before the US, but the US got the model from elsewhere.

Honestly most dominant wrestlers are white, take exception to jones (which is more judo in my opinion).

Jones is not more Judo, he has wrestled his whole life, was a champion wrestler and would have been at a top notch wrestling program had he not left college. He uses some things you see in Judo, but make no mistake his training base is wrestling.
