Why are so few fighters using the rubberguard? What should I train?

Hey, I'm very new and unexperienced when it comes to Jui Jitsu and I'm thinking of starting to train but I don't know what to train. BJJ or 10thplanetJJ??

The thing is that it seems like some bjj people bash Eddie and the rubberguard but I dont know why they do it. Almost every fighter in the ufc have BJJ in their arsenal, and I rarely see rubberguard being used. I know that 10thplanet is kinda new and haven't been around for so long but it seems like its really useful on the back rather then bjj. Iv'e seen countless of times when bjj blackbelts are laying on the ground and does nothing but trying not to get Gnp'ded and waiting for the round to be over. It feels like the rubberguard is a lot better for people who want to do MMA, it feels like you have more options on the ground.

Just from what I have read I think that 10thplanet without the Gi would be the best for me, it seems like a more chill jj school.

What do you guys think? What should I do?
ps: I probably have a lot of dumb things in my text but that's my assumption about the whole thing.

Either is good. I prefer tenth planet cuz it was easier for me to understand when i first started as eddie broke everything down into a simple path system. its all the same really 10th planet uses rubber guard, lockdown, and some twistering which all are awesome. Its all good man. I train at a non tenth planet school but still use it along with everything else i learn.

I love the rubber guard its fantastic, spider web, the truck, stoner control!!! jeayuh etc etc but it takes alot of work to flexible and efficient enough to use rubber guard consistenly. Watch Bollinger, his rubber is a thaaaang of beauty & scary as shit if ur in it lol cuz my fantastic will double bag ya like a case of 40oz'rs

If you want to be good at nogi train 10thpj..if you want to be good at the gi train bjj. There are a ton of eddie bravo bashers out there. When you go against the flow people don't like it. Taking off the gi and only teaching nogi was def going against the flow.
The best thing to do is go try out a couple different school. I've never heard of a school not giving a free introductory class. So you won't be out any money for trying out your options.
I personally like both but rarely train in the gi. Nogi is a lot more fun to me.

Am I just blind, or maybe ignorant? I don't really hear any Eddie or 10th planet bashing. When the the system comes up, people talk about it in a respectfull manner do compare its advanatges and disadvanatages, sometimes our coaches will throw in a sweep like oldschool in to the mix and credit Eddie for publisizing and consistently using in competition. So yeah, I never hear this Eddie bashing that most of you are talking about...

I've used alot of rubber guard in the few ammy fights i've had and it has saved my face alot of abuse. Wrestling was my base so not very often do they take me down but when they do i feel like i'm good to go there thx to rubber guard and some great sweeps my instructor showed me earlier on. If you do mma you better be comfortable and effective in any position because very possible you will end up there.
