Fact: cannabis is amazing.
For this reason, i think that we shouldn't continue to make light of it in the MSM... my personal opinion is that it is something everyone should experience.. But it seems like we've been moving closer and closer towards ridiculizing it and making it seem insignificant.. This gives children two options when encountering it in their real lives... a) ignore it or b) just try it because it's not a big deal. Both of these I think are kinda messed up...
IMO it should come with a disclaimer; WARNING: this shit will blow your mind. Life altering experiences possible.

How are drugs and their use ever going to be made respectable if we're not respecting the drugs and their vast potential?

Agreed. Personally for me it was the B option.

But the fact is, is that most kids don't realize those "mind blowing" AMAZING life beneficial effects from weed and it seems they never will. ALOT just smoke it to fit in ( I see it all the time)

My friends always look at me retarded when I try to explain and educate them on the beneficial effects :/ o well

I've smoked pretty regularly since I was about 13 and I'm now 27. When I was younger I got into trouble a lot, and I was just kind of a burnout. I hungout, skateboarded, went to parties, smoked weed, and that was about it.

I did poorly in school during junior high, and my freshmen year in high school which had more to do with effort, and attitude than pot itself, but it could be argued that the lack of effort, and general apathy towards school had to do with the weed, and the people I was hanging around. I did well as a junior and senior in high shool while continuing to smoke because I decided I wanted to go to college, and finally had a reason to really care about school. I got very high grades in college, and was still smoking pot daily, but I cared deeply about my schooling because I wanted to be there, and I was also 19 at this point, and starting to mature, so that probably played a part as well.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not so sure pot is the greatest thing in the world for someone in their teens. It's far too easy to be irresponsible, and reckless, and your mind and body may not be capable of handling the effects of the drug at a young age. I have absolutely no issues with my usage now, but I have a 19 year old brother who is basically your stereotypical stoner. I didn't introduce him to the drug, and I've tried very hard to talk some sense into him, but as of today he's still just drifting through life without any general direction.

I think in the end a lot of it depends on the individual, but I think drugs in general should probably be avoided until your mind and body are mature enough to handle the effects.

I smoke pot and im a sophmore in highschool. im not a dumbass, i have a 3.5 right now, i do jiu jitsu, and the main reason i smoke is that it has taught me more about myself then any thing i have ever tried. you should smoke buddy. thats what high school is for

There is a video of Youtube of Joe Rogan saying he had fallen for the Weed line and he didn't take it up till 5 years ago. He looked in his 30's in that clip. The point is that there is a HUGE difference when doing it as a fully grown adult in your 20's and doing it as a young teenager. In my opinion I seriously doubt Michael Phelps would have been as good as he was if he was doing weed since he was 13 or something.

A friend of mine will finish his Phd in Psychology later this year and smokes weed but didn't start doing it regularly till his mid 20's. I asked him if he had been doing since he was a young teenager where would he be today? He said probably working some shit job somewhere and probably would have wasted his life. So no I don't think weed is for kids in the slightest in my opinion. You need to be able to physically and emotionally handle it and I doubt most kids can. If you take it up I would strongly suggest you wait till your much older.

Just saw "Drugged: High on Marijuana" on natgeo... they said that when you regularly smoke cannibas, your brain thinks it no longer needs to produce cannibanoids for up to four weeks afterwards... That is chemical addiction. Maybe because it's not permanent, it's not? Either way, that's what they say causes the common withdrawals.. It didn't seem like a hit-piece, but it probably was... It did close with an unbelievable statistic... Of those who try cannibas just once, 90% become dependent. I think pot should be legal and readily available all over the world to all people, but I also think we all need to cut the crap and start telling the absolute truth about the stuff. Information>legislation. All drugs, substances, foods, liquid, EVERYTHING we put into our bodies needs to be treated with respect and seriously considered. Americans have the terrible habit of swallowing without chewing!

@prowess - I'm looking for the piece now. If you have a link, please send it to me. From everything I have been taught, that is very much not the case. If so, maybe I am missing something technical? For example, maybe they are talking about extra cannabinoids that are not necessary in the brain. I will look into it, but I really would not worry too much about cannabis withdrawal. If there is in fact some noticeable difference in brain/body chemistry from cannabis withdrawal, it is certainly harmless, as opposed to the typical drugs that usually cause withdrawal to be a concern. Thanks for the info, though. I will either figure out why it is wrong, or learn something new!
