10th Planet picking up steam in San Diego

I teach beginners JJ classes at my gym and i noticed over the last year more and more people are asking about the system including other instructors. I've been following 10thplanet and implementing in to my style since i began jiu-jitsu 6 years ago. Almost every academy has given me shit for it until recently which makes me believe most people in the grappling world are starting to take notice and opening there minds. Anyone else notice this shift in acceptance?

My gym says "use what works." =D So 10th Planet stuff doesn't get any hate where I train, but since I'm a white belt, there are a couple of guys who are simply skeptical when I'm trying to drill things like spiderweb, truck, lockdown vs the traditional BJJ 1/2G. For the most part though, if I have a tech that works, people are willing to try it out for themselves via drilling/live rolls.

It went from being instructed to always go for top position/sweeps and never pulling guard to "use your rubberguard!" so I too have seen major changes in attitude about it. Rubberguard "never works." they are definitely running out of excuses.

Ran into some black belts from my school & town yesterday at lunch. I happened to have my finally awaited copy of Eddie's rubber guard book that I just picked up at the post office minutes before and decided to open the package in front of them. Half of them gave me shit as always, told me to check out a different "better" gi based book, without even considering and cracking "retard control" jokes. Given all that, I've never felt better about my commitment to the system. I'd say half of those I know are haters, the other half are more open minded.

Yea I am definitely getting the sense that people are starting to recognize that this is not a passing fad. Feels like people are understanding the benefits of training in, and OUT of the GI. We are constantly getting guys from traditional schools, that just want to add to their game! Plus, getting a 1 hour class from Sean Bollinger for only $5 doesnt hurt either.
