    Wrestler's Guillotine in Action

    Hey guys!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gu0gERCIJE

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2LmT...eature=related

I never wrestled in high school so I don't really understand the rules, besides that taking the guy down is a good thing, and if you pin him you win, like Hogan would in the WWF. lol

Decided to youtube some traditional "Twisters" in action to see what it looks like in regular freestyle wrestling. I'm curious, is the match stopped because the person is pinned? Does he submit? Or does the ref just stop it so he doesn't get hurt?

Also, whats the deal with the Banana Split? Is that just a pin as well? Or is it also stopped as a submission? Which submissions ARE legal, if any, in good ol' American Wrestling?

    Peace

As far as im concered pins arent allowed at all
same case with the arm triangle
    its for pinning not submitting
im sure they apply pressure in all pins/submissions but only enough to hold the opponent down

In wrestling they are pins, you cannot "submit" your opponent. The ways to win a match are by pin by points or DQ. The banana splits and twister are pinning the opponents shoulders to the mat. A match can be stopped for blood or injury time in the middle of a pinning combination but you would give up 4 points near fall.

Right on. Wrestlers are tuff mother fuckers man!

Its interesting to see how they set it up, grabbing the arm before the roll, or even using it to turn the guy over. Very interesting...

Just watched the first clip, that was awesome.
It's crazy that in wrestling you can just neck crank the shit out of your opponent for 3 seconds until the ref calls it.

Back in the day, Pro wrestling used to be legit, and they used it as a submission as well. They felt that the submissions were too dangerous for highschool kids to use, so they took them out. But they still use it as a pin.

Appearently you can tap in a wrestling match and it ends. I have wrestled for a very long time and personally have never seen it happen but many have told me that happens. Those positions lead to pins just like a double chicken wing leads to pins. None of the moves are comfortable but the rules dont allow cranking to get the tap as in JJ. Usually you opponent gives up and lets you pin them once they realize they cant get out. Plus a pin comes quick in wrestling so you dont have to secure the perfect position for more than a second (as long as the ref is paying attention).

A lot of refs i seen up north used to wait quite a 5 or 6 secs if the skill levels seemed close, the only quick pins i ever saw was from our heavyweight who threw the other heavyweights around like they were ragdolls

That is crazy that you can just crank the dudes neck for so long! I wonder who invented it. A random miner in some Podunk town? A skinny farmer in the midwest? I guess we'll never know.

That'd be crazy if Samurais used to use the move in battle. lol

Yeah I believe it was just some wrestler whose name was lost over the years.
