happy that that the best fighters in strikeforce finally get to face the best guys in the ufc. But I really hope UFC just signs on the best talent and leaves strikeforce around as a developmental fight league so guys that aren't quite on that level yet have a stepping stone.

I think it was intelligent to buy strikeforce. They have to honor the contracts from strikeforce so why not co-promote and make more money and help promote the fighters that will soon be in the UFC. I'm glad, it's one step closer to UFC being like the NFL.

its not annoying me that they are promoting strikeforce in ufc sites etc, its just that dana made it seem like the two were gonna stay exactly how they are and that there wouldnt be any crossover. even when someone asked him if they would advertise SF with ufc he said absolutely not and "business as usual".
i just dont like all this sneaky shit, if they wanna make strikeforce the stepping stone to the ufc, thats great. but they should just come out and say it instead of bullshiting (two Ts in bullshiting? lol)
anyone else know about any other changes that have happened/happening?

I like the idea of using the Unifed Rules in Strikeforce. Imo all MMA promotions should do so

I would rather there be no ground elbows, and soccer kicks. Otherwise these wet blanket wrestlers can continue their reign of boredom. And if the UFC and Strikeforce fully merge, does this mean womens UFC fights?

agreed nate, im not a fan of ground elbows, it gives wrestlers such a big advantage on the ground (if you cant use any basic rubber guard) and i dont really mind soccer kicks or not, i was never a pride guy so im not used to them. every time somebody brings up women in the ufc, dana makes the same face and says shit about not enough good women to make a proper division. yet somehow strikeforce pulls it off fine.

The elbows aren't the problem on the ground. The only way to keep the game fast paced and exciting is to have refs that will stand people up when neither is being strongly offensive, both the person on their back and the guy on top. Pitter patter punches from guard or side control are boring, but so is a guy just holding the other's posture down in guard. However, if the the guy on bottom is active and constantly going for submissions even if the guy on top is not doing anything, then of course the ref should let it stay on the ground. I see it as if the guy on top is just holding position, pinning the other on his back, and not trying to deal any damage, there is no reason he should be allowed to sit there, it is not just boring, it is as useless and passive as someone constantly running away from their opponent when standing up to avoid getting punched. Landing a takedown and laying on your opponent is literally as bad as landing one good punch at the beginning of the round and then staying out of range waiting for the bell in my opinion.

I kinda remember Pride having a system that stopped alot of the stalling from the ground. I believe they showed a yellow card ( yes kind of like a soccer game) and the fined the individual a % of his purse, winning or losing. I believe they would give a warning or two but then they started taking money from them. Kind of a motivator, don't you think. The UFC did bring in BONUS pay for Fight of the Night, Sub of the Night and KO of the Night. Which I believe motivated a few people, but I believe there should be some kind of penalty for just stalling. I know some of stalling is strategy to get the other person tired but sometimes there is way to much.

I think he meant co-promoting with a organization not zuffa owned. Example, with fedor and m-1.
