Zuffa buys Pride --> Pride dies
Zuffa buys WEC --> WEC dies
Zuffa buys Strikeforce -->Oh yeah, we are going to keep strikeforce and have them do their own shows with their own roasters bla bla bla.... Maybe, just because of the showtime deal that strikeforce has, but nothing much more than that.

I gurantee you if they can, Zuffa at one point will buy Bellator and Titan and shut the down after a short while. Until they put in laws against Cartelling in the sports industry, Zuffa will continue to buy and shut down smaller shows. Don't forget, Dana White wants to be like NFL or NBA, meaning there is no room for even small regional organizations.

that would suck so bad at times though, they dictate the prices and people wont have a choice but to pay a ton for ppv, not to mention less people will get discovered at the smaller shows, not to mention using these smaller shows to improve their skills and gain experience. i just hate the thought of one group being in charge of the majority of mma, the advertising is gonna suck too "buy your UFC mugs now, and drink like a real fighter" the shit they pull makes me laugh, like that kinect game coming out lol

You can't co-promote with yourself and Zuffa owns both promotions. It would be like saying Don King co-promotes if he owns the contracts of both fighters in a fight.

Zuffa inherited a company with TV and sponsorship deals and fighter contracts. The easiest way to get out of them is to honour them and that's what they're doing. Once that's over SF will either be merged into the UFC or relegated to a feeder league. The UFC is by far the dominant brand and it makes no sense for it to run alongside SF.

Not being able to elbow on the ground never stopped Ricardo Arona from being a blanket in PRIDE. If someone wants to lnp and they are up against someone who can't stop them then they will do it, elbows or not. Quicker stand ups will just lead to more stalling by the fighter on the bottom who has even less incentive to develop a guard game to threaten off his back. Instead of changing the rules fighters need to become better grapplers.

I think They should Keep strike-force seperate. Kind of be like WWE and have two main shows Raw and Smackdown. But instead it be UFC and Strikeforce. With the divisions being stacked how they are alot of great fighters that have very little chances for title shots because there are so many people in the division. there might be 5 fighters that are all doing amazing at the same time all on winning streaks but they have to wait like 2 year before they get there shot. Two main shows gives the fighters more titles to work for.

its awesome that the UFC is promoting and advertising SF. There's a lot of talent in SF thus the reason for the purchase. The way I see it; the more quality MMa the better.

i just dont like all this sneaky shit, if they wanna make strikeforce the stepping stone to the ufc, thats great. but they should just come out and say it instead of bullshiting (two Ts in bullshiting? lol)
anyone else know about any other changes that have happened/happening?
I think you have to look at the context and timing of when he said that. At the time of the purchase people were wondering if all of Strikeforce's people were going to be fired or what was going to happen to the organization as a whole. Within that context, it's business as usual. People are keeping their jobs and strikeforce's staff was being brought in to boost UFC's staff and vice versa.

Now going forward, there are certain cross over match ups that just make sense monetarily regardless of what Dana said at the moment of the purchase. Things change really fast and business has no time to keep it's word for the sake of itself.

As far as quicker stand ups in MMA, i think that would take away from good Jiu Jitsu, if I know if i just hold for a minute and then will be stood up, why should i train Jiu Jitsu? I know it is boring at times, but that is part of Jiu Jitsu, you have to out game your opponent!
