    mostly name,

single is light weight, pearl is light tighter weave, rip stop is my favorite lighter weight, double heavy weight to dang thick, gold is light but stronger like a double, canvas light strong kind of like pants another one of my favorites.

my son is sponsored by ground control fight gear and their gis are a very good quality for a very good price, see my sig

    later, ron

if you live in yuma i would not get a double, its to hot.

i prefer ripstop, but some tournaments might not allow it, so i would start with a single or pearl weave if you are going to compete.

name does not mean the best, go to my sons website and read his review/comparison with a name brand gi, you will learn things to look for in a gi. its a kids gi, but the things to look for are the same for adult gis.

pearl is a single weave but tighter than a normal single.

if the gracie gi has a skirt (two peace top with a different material around the bottom of the top), i would not get it.

make sure you get a one piece top.

I'd suggest to you that you should get an Atama Ultra-lite gi. I have one and love it. It feels great and looks great. It'll cost you about $135.00 (free shipping from Atama site) and it's worth every penny.
