the renzo nyc academy is awesome, parkings a bitch so dont drive if you can help it, they have a parking garage across the street but they rape you with the hourly rate. i used to take the train from newark penn station which was 3 blocks from my home to madison square garden and walk 2 blocks to renzos. one of the cool things about renzos was when i signed up for morning class with john daneher, to this day ive never rolled with anyone as smooth and suave as him, im not saying hes the best guy out there but imo he was up there with the top guys, i seen him make other black belts look like blue belts. unlike alot of schools, you where able to hang out there and train for hours and nobody sweated it, they never came up to me and said your class is over ,see you tommorrow, i used to stay there sometimes till 1 or 2 oclock. id work the thia bags watching master K who was the thia instructor at the time and was awesome. then id spar in the boxing ring with someone who needed a sparring partner and would get my face pounded awhile. very relaxed but intense training, rolling with guys like jamal paterson, rolles, igor, fish, and big rob constance to name a few is very humbling to say the least. this was back in 2003 and i didnt have the injuries and surgeries i had in the last few years so i was able to train better, and i was 38 years old, not 46 like i am now.
