Dan Henderson’s ground game: “I’d be lost in the gi!”

“Jiu-Jitsu to me is key, combined with wrestling. Wrestling is a great foundation with which to control a fight, but you need Jiu-Jitsu or striking to finish the opponent. I love grappling, but the truth is I never put on a gi. I’d be lost in the gi!” remarks Henderson.

To help Hendo with his ground game, black belt Ricardo “Pantcho” Feliciano spares no effort.

“Henderson would give a lot of guys a hard time if he were to compete in at No-Gi tournaments. He really likes grappling – training on the bottom too. He’d tap out a lot of black belts,” asserts Pantcho.

I've seen a lot of strong wrestlers tap out "black belts."
A good example would be hughes vs Almedia; he straight used retard strength.

Matt Hughes has been training no gi submissions for years, he is a great no gi brazilian jiu jitsu guy.

Actually there is an interview where Eddie Bravo says "If Helio and Carlos, if they would have said, in 2003, ‘you know what, this American is making a point… Why are we wearing this Japanese outfit still? We evolved so much, we have changed the sport so much, but we still wear this Japanese outfit… Why?’. They would have said: ‘everybody, let’s get rid of the gi’. Right now Jiu-Jitsu would be smashing, dominating all wrestlers, but the reason the wrestlers are dominating is because they’ve spent all their lives controlling bodies without handles, without the gi. That’s why wrestlers are in there, that’s why you see Matt Hughes totally dominate Royce Gracie. Royce Gracie trained with gi his whole life, Matt have never trained in the gi, but that was why Matt was able to beat Royce so easily, because he’s used to controlling bodies without handles. And even Roger Gracie, Roger Gracie just made a public statement, after all this resistance, that I’ve got for eight years, Roger Gracie this year made a public statement saying that 80% of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does not work when there are strikes, does not work in MMA. He said it, and that’s what I’ve been saying this whole time. He said it, nobody really reacted, it was a big thing, it was on news, 80% of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does not work when there’s punches and strikes… Yeah!"

So yeah when it comes to no gi guys like Hendo and Hughes are not to be overlooked. Just because there is some gi guy with a BB.

I am lost in the gi, but I still do tournaments with little to no practice in it lol and I do alright. I imagine Hendo would do just fine.
