Jens Pulver and Drew McFedries Head Cast at Titan Fighting 18

Posted on April 25, 2011 by MMAWeekly.com Staff

Titan Fighting Championship on Monday announced two of the four featured fights for its May 27 event that will air on HDNet.

Jens Pulver will make his promotional debut at Titan Fighting Championship 18 in a featherweight fight against rising Midwest talent Mike Powell. Also announced was a middleweight bout featuring UFC veteran Drew McFedries against Darryl Cobb.

“Our first two events on HDNet were met with both praise from critics and fans alike. Titan Fighting 18 will be a continuation of our formula for Titan Fighting 16 and 17 with a mix of nationally recognized names and rising prospects,” said Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly. “Pulver and McFedries will not be the only national headliners on this show as we are completing negotiations for two other high profile fights. In short, Titan Fighting 18 will be our deepest show in history.”

Pulver (24-14-1) is trying to resurrect a career that many, including himself, might be over following a six-fight skid that included his exodus from the WEC. He has put together back-to-back victories this year, and looks to continue the streak against Powell.

It won’t be easy though as he faces an up-and-coming fighter that has kept himself very busy over the past couple of years. Powell (10-2) is on a streak of his own, winning his last three fights. He’s a finisher, as well, having only two of his 10 victories go to a decision.

McFedries (9-6) got back on the winning track at Titan Fighting Championship 16 in January. He hadn’t fought in nearly a year-and-a-half at that point, following a three-year stint in the UFC.

In McFedries, Cobb (6-2) has the opportunity to return to his winning ways following a loss in April in the final minute of the bout. He was on a six-fight winning streak prior to that fight.

“Drew vs. Darryl is going to be a tremendous standup war,” said Kelly. “McFedries has very polished boxing for a mixed martial artist while Darryl’s Muay Thai skills are excellent. Both guys know how to bring it in the cage and Memorial Hall will come alive for this fight.”

Titan Fighting 18 will take place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, on May 27.

Titan Fighting Championships aren't a bad little promotion. It's been nice having some pro MMA based out of KC.
