This has been discussed before on this forum, and I personally feel that some people are too sensitive about what is "dirty". If you are referring to cranking submissions before your opponent has a chance to tap, slams, small joint manipulation, biting, eye gouging, and other things that are clearly against the rules of any gym and/or competition that I am aware of, than that is dirty and totally unacceptable.

On the other hand, some people get very sensitive about leaning on the throat, digging an elbow into the ribs, etc., which I accept as part of the game. It is a contact sport, and some level of toughness should be expected. Also, anyone with a more catch wrestling oriented background knows this is SOP for those guys.

that or when they take you down but they drop you and dont politely put you down
they literally pick you up and slam you from their feet (usually first time wrestlers)

what do you think is dirty grappling?

Agreed, no cranking on fully extended locks. Which is why heel hooks are so dangerous. They are already fully extended.

Last week a gym hopper came in and I caught a triangle. Awesome defense and I couldnt finish, so I decided to kung fu move, while still pulling on my shin. Was lookin for the go-go but his chin was tucked, so I pulled down on one shin and pushed up on the other in kind of a vice of shins on his head/face/jaw. I felt I could of crushed his skull so I let go, but when I did he was pissed. Dirty? Face or jaw cranks and pain compliance techs?

As long as your controlled, everything(cept the obvious) goes in my book as well.

I personally don't like when the person on top just smothers the face of the guy on bottom causing a tap by suffocation as opposed to a legitimate submission. That just seems cheap and devoid of class.

what about digging your elbows in someone's thigh to break open a closed guard? I personally would not try to pass that way.

That only works on brand new guys.
I don't consider it dirty, just lack of experience.

I just hate feeling like my windpipe is getting crushed. I understand its standard procedure, because I train catch.. still sucks though. But to get revenge I always knee on neck/face ride them when I get top position....

Also I don't believe in yanking submissions, especially heel hooks! Its just a matter of respect. You have to treat your training partners right.

The digging of knuckles into the ribs pisses me off to no end. oh and covering the mouth and nose is downright disrespectful. If I am ever in a tourny and someone does either of those to me that's when I start to throw punches at the face and no I don't care if I get disqualified
