UFC 129 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada played out in front of 55,000 fans last night and made history by breaking the live attendance record for a mixed martial arts event in North America.
Not only was UFC 129 great for the UFC itself, it brought people from every continent into the city of Toronto. Hotels were sold out all over the downtown core, restaurants were full and retail stores were bustling with buyers.
UFC 129 boosted the economy in the city of Toronto in a similar fashion to how the Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal.
After seeing so much success, it brings up questions as to why New York is still one of the last big jurisdictions that will not sanction mixed martial arts.
