Sherdog's featherweight rankings. Mark Hominick dealt with Jose Aldo better than any challenger to date, was on top beating on a completely dejected Aldo on the last round , and has the best hands in the featherweight division. I would rank him number 2 or maybe 3 after the next challenger for the belt, however according to sherdog, he is not even top 10 material.... Do these people think before voting on this stuff or is it just who likes which fighter better type of selection? On the same token Fedor is i think number 7 or 8 in the HW division after losing 2 fights straight so.....

Idk enough about the 145 division to truly say, but after that fight, I think he deserves a spot up there.

While I concur that Hominick should ranked between #2 and #4 (Chad Mendez and Florian could arguable be placed above him but in reality Florian should be a ? until we see him at 145 a few times), here is what you were missing.

1) Aldo was physically ill. Several portugese speakers have noted observing he said to his corner "I should have taken the antibiotics" and they responded with usual pep talk.

2) the source is Sherdog.

Anderson is unquestionably #1 p4p at the moment especially in the context of the Belfort and Shields bouts.

I see your second point but the first one is off base a bit. Aldo's physical condition has no bearing on the fight or its result. It is like saying, Randy was old when he fought Machida, if not things would be different.

Touche, I probably should have made point 2 point 1 and point 1 point 2. Sherdog is usually suspect when it comes to ranking things but Aldo being sick is something alot of people missed and the thread did ask "am I missing something?"

Hominick was outlanding Aldo on the feet for much of the fight but what Aldo connected with both standing and in the guard did FAR more damage. That + the takedowns made it a clear 49-46 bout but it was a great card and as I stated, I agree Hominick should be ranked in the top 5 at this point.

Yes it was obvious that Aldo was not the usual himself, hope he can pick himself up and we do not see a re-run of Nogeira being sick in the Frank Mir fight, but even after healing up still KO'ed by Cain. Ok bad example, Cain was gunna KO anybody that was put in front of him that night, Noguiera or not.
