A "peaceful gathering" does not involve the litter videoed on the lawns, the people throwing things at the police, and the rubbish fires set on the lawn 3 minutes into the video. The guy on the right side of the video, with the headphones, makes me sick. All this demonstrates is a person who thinks he knows his rights. This is a guy, who is standing on the outside of a fish tank, looking in. He was not a participant. He's a coward with a loud mouth, narrating the actions of real men. However ill-fated. Even though I believe they're wrong I commend the stalwart action. Stand up for what you believe in and take you beating like a man!
In New York there are only approximately 3,000 State troopers for a state of over approximately 13 million ( 0.00023077 OF A TROOPER FOR EVERY PERSON IN THE STATE. Aprox. 4,334 vs 1 Trooper). In New York City there are only 25,000 NYPD for 8 MILLION occupants/visitors of the city [5 boroughs]. In NYC that's 320 vs 1 cop. In places more rural then the example you must understand the odds are greater(Every other U.S. city is "more rural"). How many students vs how many cops? I only saw about 15 or 20 cops versus a mob of students. The students must have warranted the force. It's just some ass-bag telling "his" side of the story.
If it was a "peaceful gathering" the police would have stood there and enjoyed the easy money they made on a "special assignment" and not "normal patrol." They didn't assemble in some pre-planed assault on students. 20 cops in a rural area just don't get together to beat the shit out of college students for no good reason.
The amount of force is directly proportionate to the threat. Cops aren't assholes. In all honesty...kids who think they know they're rights are assholes. All this video proves is don't get drunk in public and act like a bitch when the cops break up your party.
People acting like animals gives cops the right to treat them like animals. I would love to see the accusations of this "investigative journalist" justified in a court of law. He gives a bad name to anyone trying to make a difference for the better.
