yes traditional japanese jj is all good. so is aikido, ninjutsu, rex kwon do, tai chi, tae bo, yoga booty ballet, p90x, etc.

I've always thought of Yoga and Ballet with a class being mostly women. In shape women. I'm thinking I might what to see the other students test. Especially if it includes booty. It may be more suited for the Ultimate Ass Thread though. I actually think there may be a video in the Ultimate Ass Thread that qualifies as a yoga booty ballet test. HA!

I think part of what makes this forum so good is how it doesn't take itself too seriously. I think mandatory verification and such moves away from that a bit.

i got a good one for ya...I earned my belt before my accident in the Air Force.
After my accident i had to relearn how to talk, walk, read and write...so you can imagine my JJ skills arent the same.
But, after asking a few folks...they say once you got it, you keep it.
Honestly I think I'm back along the lines of a Blue...
Mind you, i roll/teach 3-4x a week , with every kinda person you can imagine. Newbies, old farts, women, kids...all ranging from no belt to high blue. (not a bunch of nogi folks in my area)
Now, I'd HAPPILY drop my rank to white because I'm new to the system (and restarted JJ about 2.5 years ago..since the accident)
Is it disrespectful to drop rank on yourself because you would rather have the 10PJJ guys rank you?

i have a private student who's been with me for three years. he is a big name in the gun world, he is a police officer, his consulting company trains special forces units, has been an instructor at americas premiere gun school, and most importantly, he runs a gun forum.

the rules on his forum.
1. you must use your real name as your forum name
2. you must send him a scanned copy of your i.d.
3. law enforcement and special forces must send their credentials
4. no one but law enforcement, military, or approved personnel can post on his forum

the reason for all of this is that they are talking about gear and tactics for situation where ones life is on the line, thus, they dont want people getting bad information from their site that gets them killed.

i realize that we are not dealing with such sensitive issues, but i think that some fidelity would be good. if someone wants to post as a black, brown, or purple belt, they should have to provide proof of their rank and lineage to a forum moderator before being able to put rank next to their name. and if someone wants to post as a black belt, they should have to do so by name. in doing this, we could make sure that we keep the credibility here high.

I think this might be a good idea for black belts. Seen way too many people who post as BB at some school I've never heard of. Agree with Eddie the drama of wannabe brown or purple belts can be fun!

Purple Belt under black belt and Abu Dhabi vet. Rick McCauley. Was a blue belt for 3 1/2 years..mostly because i trained at multiple gyms and shed the Gi about 2 years ago. I have video of me getting 'The Whip' as we call it (BJJ tradition were entire school lines up and whips the shit out of you with their belts after they all just whipped the shit out of you rolling solo for 2 straight hours....my own daughter whipped me the hardest!!)
