Hi
Thought I would introduce myself before I start posting away lol.
I am the Head Coach/ Owner of Milton Keynes MMA, a studio MMA gym I recently opened in the UK. I've been training in MMA for 11 years now, started at age 14, and had my first amatuer fight after 5 months training, went pro a little early at 17, and have been training full time and having fun ever since.
Like many of you, I trained in the gi, after two years in the gi I reached purple belt bjj rank, but as I was fighting pro MMA, I didnt see much practical use for it, despite many people thinking that your gi game transfers over, I didnt enjoy spending time learning many gi only techniques which I wasnt able to use in the cage or in no-gi submission wrestling. So 6 years ago I went strictly no gi and began teaching, had a few more pro fights, had a few injuries along the way and here I am today enjoying coaching at my school very much and making a lot of new friends.
A big focus for me and my core students who wish to compete on the ground is 10th planet system techniques, we will be looking to become affiliated as a 10th planet jj school in the future. But for now I look forward to contributing to these forums that Ive lurked for a long time.
You can check out a few of my pro fights if you want, long time ago now www.youtube.com/miltonkeynesmma
Thanks and I look forward to getting to know you all.
Simon
