I strongly recommend this if you plan on doing Jiu Jitsu long term. And Maiajuijitsu-i still say you should at least change to high purple/low brown.....at the least. You might even be the next 10th P black belt so keep it up man!

Who needs television when we have our beloved forums =D.

But in all seriousness, Whoo, I wish you the best in your training brother. I suggest getting with a blue belt if you can find one to train with or higher if you don't go to a school that teaches jiu jitsu. It helps a LOT when someone with experience can critique your basics, which is where I'm at right now.

I'm so thankful that I have my 10P Hotbox brothers and the blue belts and my mma/jj coach helping to guide me along in all their own individual ways. The blue belts teach me by smashing me =D, which is probably one of the best ways to learn since it's taking longer and longer for them to smash me, but I still get smashed.

Stick with it Whoo, just make sure that you're under some experienced guidance and you'll be a monster someday.

    awh thanks =D!!!

my life goal is to get blackbelts from thegracies, the nougerias, and 10th planet thats why i learn as much as i can!!!
Learn hard, think smart, play honest. the hardest part of JJ is learning the moves and all the technical aspects of it, cause you either need a teacher to teach you the moves, or you learn it yourself from instructional movies.

    backstory:

my first time being inducted into ufc was in 07 (first time hearing/watching ufc) my first reaction was "OH MY GOD! PEOPLE FIGHTING FOR REAL FOR MY ENTERTAINMENT iminlove!!! " then i saw them go to the mat and im like THIS IS LEGAL? and i saw guys submitting other people and i was like " YOU CAN BREAK ARMS AND LEGS AND CHOKE THEM OUT signmeup!!! " for awhile i was just watching trying to figure out rules and what you can, cant do, what moves you can do thats when i started getting into the technical part of it, trying to figure out how to reverse/sweep and WHY it works THATS when i realized BJJ was its OWN WORLD, you cant relate it to anything either YOUR IN IT or YOUR NOT...

watching the fights i said MUAY THAI, I LIKE THAT, KICKS AND KNEES, GOT IT so i kinda got the gist of that, punching i related to boxing but the ground i knew NOTHING about it and as they say YOUR ONLY AS STRONG AS YOUR WEAKNESS so i started learning about it, the more i watched, the more i learned, the more i understood, the more i was able to call techniques for fighters to do to get out of bad situations (kinda like the cornermen do) just as practice to get use to what BJJ was all about. BJJ is SO TECHNICAL its basically INFINITE possibilities as well as being VERY SIMILAR to CHESS but WITH HUMANS and i very much like the mental aspect of it.

ive been a UFC fan (i first started with UFC then heard about PRIDE-the #1 BEST mma organization that WILL EVER LIVE ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET- then started watching dream, sengoku, k1-m1 sometimes, strikeforce finally wec, for 4 years now, started learning BJJ about 1-2 years ago, crammed 4 years into about a year of learning for those who mock or make fun of someone FOR WHAT THEY LOVE AND ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT you are horrible people and im ashamed for you. go somewhere else and find someone who actually CARES what you have to say or care how mean and hurtful you are cause HERE my friends, we RESPECT AND LOVE each other

For a split second I almost thought he was going to salvage that twister roll. For a split split second.

Reading his initial post, I hope he does begin training at a real gym. God, looking back there were so many things that I thought were right that were just completely wrong. I'm sure every year will make me realize how screwed up certain parts of my game were from the previous year.

I was thinking that the other day too lol! But yeah I have been training/consulting with a few blues and purples here and there. I'm also looking to roll with a few other fans in the summer.

    Lol as the joker pics...

Whoo, when you first posted here you were a black belt. In what? Any vids? And look at the pictures in the book harder. Dont just kinda do it. Do it exactly like the pics and words tell you to. But from the looks of that, your definitely gonna need a coach.

Maia, you live in a fantasy land and should not give advice.
