Question for those currently studying tenth planet systems...

Like i have stated in a couple of other posts around i currently have on order the Mastering the Rubber Guard book and dvd and the Mastering the Twister book on the way in the mail....
I am saving to buy a year membership to the site so i can start studying the MTS video's..

up until this point i've only ever learned Gracie Jiu Jitsu gaining my blue belt in almsot a cheating manner by doing it via the Gracie Combatives System... there is only one other school in Cairns and i don't like it there much so Gracie Combatives is all i've had

Do you think by studying 10th planet solely will prove effective for me in competitions? I love everything i have seen and i know being the only dude i know of up here other than my two sparring partners learning these moves i will have the advantage of using alot of techniques others are unfamiliar with.... but will i be then at a disadvantage going up against gracie guys?

That seems to be a pretty good indication of almost every time I've seen 10PJJ against any other style. You force them on the defense the entire time. Well done Denny! Very good game.

mastering the system dvd is a GODSEND dude eddie throws MAD MOVES at you its very similar to CAIO TERRA - 111 HALF GUARD dvd. The best part of eddie's system is every move LINKS-CHAINS-FLOWS from one to the next and its TRIED AND TRUE methods its not some crazy wild idea that works 10% these moves work more like 90-100% of the time. if your opponent has never seen rubberguard he wont have ANY idea how to fight back unless they follow the gracie bjj rules of defending the choke first not the position

if you used this book/dvd ONLY for competitions you MIGHT win depends how sick your game is. but what if someone gets you in 5050 or anaconda or something youve never seen before? youve only learned rubberguard and whatever at gracie combatives you havnt well versed in ALL aspects of the game. i clearly mean zero disrespect but showing you the bigger picture of what your asking to give you better understanding

You'll gain something as long as you put in the repetition and drill your techniques.

There are 3 brazilian jiu jitsu schools in cairns 2 of these use the moves made famous by Eddie Bravo extensively. It is great to hear that you too appreciate his moves and techniques. feel free to come and train at either Jigsaw Martial arts or BJJ at the PCYC.
hope you can pop in some day.
