Start slow, make sure you're back 100%. And if your shoulder was torn then just easy tap to kimura's or the like because it will probably be a bit weaker then it was before, at least it was for me. It might change you're game up a little because you might not be able to do all of what you were doing before. But Starting slow is the key point. Good luck.

I am in the same boat, but I took quite a bit more time off from training. I recently went to a 3 hour seminar, with a little rolling afterward and I felt like I could get back into the swing of things, (so I am planning to.) Just take it easy, and remember to take a little bit of time for some warm up and stretching before classes, as it will help to minimize injury.

I understand the hesitation in going to a new gym, it always sucks hard being the new guy, not knowing anyone, everyone else talking to each other, not having a partner at partner time etc but as you said, once you break the ice it's all over and you never look back. I went to a heap of different places back to back to back so had that feeling alot. And yeah it's hard I'm not going to lie.

    BUT

Take pride in doing the difficult thing whether it's going to a new gym, speaking in front of people, doing a marathon, losing weight, whatever. It is way to easy to stay in your comfort zone and cease continuing to grow like the majority of the population.

Do what is difficult/uncomfortable/challenging then take pride in doing it, cause most people dont and wont.

Wish you all the best looking for a new jitz home. You know where to find me

allright man well I know where you're coming from because 4 months ago I was coming back to train and I hadn't for like 6 months. I was coming back from a knee surgery. I had serious anxiety stepping in the gym again I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. Like I couldn't even look people in the eyes I was so nervous LOL. Not to mention the fact that I was going to a new gym so that didn't help either. But you know what they all turned out to be really awesome guys and not even one of them is a deuche. It's just a matter of facing your anxieties. and just remember that you wont become the man you want to become if you back off everytime you face a speedbump.

I heard a quote somewhere it goes something like "success comes from doing what you're most afraid of". well that's the jist of it.
