Any advice on a BJJ school in the Western burbs of Chicago?

Hello All,

My name is Mikey. I am 31 and live in the Western burbs of Chicago. I am looking for a BJJ school. I am new to BJJ and am not sure where to go. I know there are a few in the area. To my knowledge there are no 10th Planet gyms in the area. Any feedback or suggestions would be very helpful. My long term goals with BJJ are to lose some weight, earn some belts and maybe compete in some grappling competitions.

I don't know how far you are from Highland Park Chicago, but BIMA is a pro 10th Planet School and from what I've read is the future site of 10PJJ Chicahhhhhhgo *yes they have an accent up there, which I love*. Josh Passini is my main contact with that school/gym and has given me nothing but the coolest vibes.

I live in Glendale Heights and work in I work in Hoffman Estates. I work from 10 to 7 most days. I think I can seek out @ 6:30 most nights.

I have a friend who goes to the Carlson Gracie in Schaumburg he says it's OK. MTC seems kinda small. I also found a place called Flo MMA. Comprido is the head instructor there. I'm guessing they are not so 10th Planet friendly since no one has mentioned them. I think Highland Park is going to be too far away for now .

Flo aint too bad but would recommend Curran over them. IMO

I think your boy came in last night. Hoffman is about 40 mins depending on how fast you drive. I usually make it there in about a half hour from the gym. Hit me up.

Hey Josh I checked out BIMA's site. My work schedule will keep me for attending any classes during the week. I may be able to pop in on Saturdays from time to time. Since I'm new to bjj I think I'm gonna take a class at MTC to learn the basics.
