Get technically proficient in the system. Win in tournaments. DO NOT BE EMOTIONALLY AFFECTED if someone disses the system or praises the system. Your emotional state should not be determined by the disapproval or approval of another individual. I no longer care that I am the "white belt dork who's using (10th Planet) moves that ""don't work."" I love our system, believe in it, and know that by sticking with it though the long and hard journey of progressing with it, that I'll become a competitive beast someday, and a black belt in some years.
See the goal man. Envision yourself holding up winning medals at tourneys along with your team mates. Believe that you will be hitting sweeps, submissions, escaping bad positions, and controlling/keeping good positions every time you roll *believe it until it becomes a reality*. I'm just a whitey white belt with white stripes on it, with recurring injuries, and I'm probably older than most of the white belts on here, and I can see all this.
You can and WILL succeed brother. You just have to believe, train hard, train smart, and take what's already yours. Your own personal success will turn the "haters" into believers.
