    Stretching for mission/crackhead.

So while I'm still new to Jiu Jitsu. I've been working some of my flexibility/dexterity quite a bit. Almost can get a full butterfly stretch going but I still seem to have trouble with my hip flexure being tense when I bring my foot/knee close to my face.

I've been doing quite a bit of triangle stretches and the like to target this tension and its showing results but I was hoping for some advice and stretching backgrounds from you guys.

    1) What stretches outside the MTRG book have you found useful in your stretching in getting quite flexible? I've thought to use my resistance bands to help out the process.

    2) About how long did it take you to get used to Mission Control? And afterwards Crackhead and Retard?

I know theres been some posts on stretching in the forums about some stretches that can be done. I've added quite a few to my workouts.

My intent for this post outside the questions was mostly about the process and trouble spotting some of the veteran blues/purple/whatever belts use to increase their flexibility in regards to Jiu Jitsu and the 10th Planet system. A kind of motivational thread for those of us still working to get at that level.

I heavily stretch my outer calf muscles, illiotibal band, glutes, groin, and lower back and it seems to help overall. Everything is connected and for every protagonist you have an atagonist. I sometime use a belt/resistance bands to help but flexibility can take sometime so just be consistant. I stretch everyday. Embrace the journey so you dont overstretch the tendons, etc.

Over-stretching is very bad. Then you lose all that progress. you would cry too if it happened to you.

Anyone else wanna offer up their process for stretching? And thanks Josh! Been targeting most of those areas but now that I know the formal names of the muscles I'm targeting I'll be able to find some stretches targeting those areas! :] And yeah trying not to over stretch. Been feeling out the stretches. Some areas are quite tense and difficult to stretch into but with the right breathing and posture it isn't to the degree that its painful. Just slightly uncomfortable. Which is more is less fine.

Only been having slight knee pain cause my joints are not quite in good health yet from not being active but I'm giving it time. Only stretching twice a day and nothing too intense.
