Personally I modify rather than add to my game. Stick with a few positions that you love and find out how to get there from everywhere. I use to play alot of guard and traditional guard, half guard, etc... and than I got my hands on the rubber guard and twister books and it was like I had new toys. But instead of trying to simply cut and paste techniques into my game I spent about a month trying to get to a preselected position (twister, lockdown, butterfly, etc...) while rolling. I found the techniques and strategies that felt natural and would assimilate into my already existing game. So to answer your question when you are looking at new techniques make sure you take the time to see if they will naturally assimilate into your game. Also, in terms of mirroring Master Eddie's game I say you should use it like a guidline since the 10th planet system was basically born from his game, not the other way around. He had and found techniques that he loved and was/is awesome at which laid the template for others, but not everyone will be as incredible at the half guard, or twister, or spider web as him so make sure that you don't try to carbon copy his game, just let yours evolve with 10th planet at it's source.....Or dont whatever's cool

My opinion of my own game is to add to and expand it as much as possible. The only way I'll find my "A" game is by doing this. Trying different techniques and seeing what works for me. Being a lower belt I believe I don't have enough experience to stick to just one path or chaining of techniques. At a competition I just do what I know works for me at the moment, at this level.

Eddie and other professors of not only his level but experience have an "A" game. I'll be that level one day but not without experiencing every technique I can get my hands on.
