Again, I love Schembri's game but how are there similarities between a sleeve control omoplata setup and rubber guard? Yes, the gross mechanics are the same and the principles of posture control, optimum hip angle, and clearing the head are all present but stylistically they play a different game.
In the video you posted, not once did Nino ever employ an over hook. To retain control of the omoplata Nino grabs the shoulder of his opponent's gi in order to trap their arm... you can't even do that without the gi. You can't even do spider guard omoplata setups in no gi. It's so drastically different I don't even understand the comparison.
