Matthias Sieber began his martial arts career as a young judoka. But after nearly two years gave him the training any more and so he turned for a long time on the martial arts, before he began as an adult, the study of ninjutsu. In 2005, his perspective changed for effective training in the martial arts. In that year he learned the Muay Thai. The foundations he built, first at the gym Sitpholek in Pattaya (Thailand) and finally in the Gym Kwan. Since July 2006 he is a certified instructor in Muay Thai and kickboxing, and WKN of IPTA. His skills in grappling, he checked for recording training in 2006 in a contest.
So he could win after a few weeks of training, the title of the South German champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In addition to many leading placings (also in other European countries) then followed in 2007 the title of German Vice Champion in Luta Livre and the title of German champion in the International Grappling. He also was honored as the best technicians in the tournament, which definitely applied techniques from the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu had a large share. Other international successes followed. Matthias Basic Instructor in Krav Maga Krav Maga Association of Australia's (now the European Krav Maga organization) in association manager Göksel Böttcher and also a certified Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coach of the MMACA.
Matthias' interest in the various approaches in the martial arts styles made him like Modern Arnis, Kali Sikaran, Penjak Silat, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, Ju-Jitsu, Capoeira, Taekwondo, MMA Thaikido system, Wing Chun to try and Luta Livre Jiu Jitsu. Since 2011, he tried to focus more on the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu focus and gives more responsibilities in the education of pupils in school sports Hamburg qualified trainer. Matthias is located primarily in Los Angeles, California on a regular basis with Eddie Bravo, the founder of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.
GroundandPound: Hi Matthias, please introduce yourself to the readers once before.
Matthias Sieber: Hello! My name is Matthias Sieber. I am a native of Hamburg, Capricorn, tap and go strong on the 30th I like sporty ride, play to relax on my Xbox 360 or on the Mac and listen to music. I'm in a happy relationship and have goals in life. Also, I am the owner and head coach of the Hamburg school sports, the best martial arts school in the beautiful Hanseatic city. And this is what it should probably go primary. (Laughs)
How did the collaboration with Eddie Bravo?
After I fought in ADCC in Spain in November or December 2006, a former team-mate also has traveled to Barcelona to train with Robin Gracie. In his hotel room he showed me the legendary fight against Royler Gracie by Eddie Bravo in 2003. It was a nice match, which has remained in my memory.
After it became clear that the school at that time I trained, I no longer wanted to have on board, I have reoriented. I wanted to train grappling, because I had fallen in love with the sport. The Gi was always matter, because I started originally with the BJJ to MMA on the ground under conditions not to go down mercilessly. So I've looked at many videos and learned from books. No optimal training conditions.
Luckily, the gym has given me the opportunity Kwan with a (heavy and insanely powerful) bouncer and school friend of rumzurollen earlier. When I then "Mastering The Rubber Guard" get in my hands and worked the techniques from the book well in tournaments simply, was already clear to me that I really want to learn the system. I've emailed Eddie, he has welcomed me and I've already booked my flight. In early 2008, I then trained for three months with him in school in Los Angeles and since then we are in regular contact.
Are you regularly in the States?
I try every year to be there. Thailand in 2009, I suffered a pretty nasty injury, which I am still suffering. So I'm only a year later was for three months in the States have made considerable progress and get my blue belt from Eddie. This year I was there again for two months. I would like to fly more often and stay there longer, because I simply want to be there again as a student and friend from Berlin, has said "consume" can. But I have a school to conduct and 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu terms in Germany, I'm still indispensable in the long run.
You are now the official representative of the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. You are in
Box office to see video for 10th Planet JJ. Are you a little proud of this achievement?
No and yes. I'm not proud of myself because I am left behind my own expectations. What I'm proud of the team sports school Hamburg is our coaches, students, the 10th planet in general community and other supporters. But there is mad busy. To set priorities is not always easy. Certainly it is remarkable what my partner and Verena Sehring I have achieved so far with the Sports School.
But we are not done yet and so little time left on the creature look happy. And just for the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in this country is still much work to do reconnaissance. The picture that has the BJJ scene from the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu is, in my opinion comparable to the image that the German population from the "cage fighting". A quick glance at the surface and it becomes a rigid opinion formed.
With you as coach of the MMA-UFC-Star Carlos Eduardo Rocha. How did this collaboration?
In addition to the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu hours, we have introduced two years ago with Gi BJJ units. At the beginning Rodrigo Augusto has taught us. Which is then migrated to California and his successor has started with us. Since it was predictable but that his partner as breadwinner is no longer employed in their job, the two have been looking for alternatives.
That they open their own school then, and even actively solicit members of us, where we have fed the pair plus their baby is ugly, of course. I then established contact with Carlos Eduardo Rocha. We met, he talked a lot about, I have listened curious explained my point of view and we got along well. After a few weeks then he has started with us two times a week, once to give BJJ and MMA training. Carlos is great.
Day by day he is sympathetic to me and although I personally have no great friend of the mad Gis am, but I am learning a lot about BJJ in each of his workouts. With him, you realize the passion and that he wants to make his students better. He is an honest, respectful man who makes us all better people. And if someone his Jiu Jitsu to the stage of the UFC can prove how he does it ... Honestly? Who wants to be a good fighter and not training with us is your own fault. We had never been without Carlos hide, but he is more than the icing on the cake.

What it offers in addition to MMA and BJJ?
We originally started with Krav Maga and the EKMO (European Krav Maga Organisation) is the only organization to which we are affiliated with a school. Muay Thai and boxing are other disciplines that we pursue ambitious. In addition, we Kettlebell training, an MMA conditioning unit and yoga on offer. Verena also encouraged a further two times a week, the Lil 'Dragons to move. Competitors are further promoted separately, but also many people from outside come in particular because of the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu to us and only want one more and then private practice. Same for Krav Maga. In addition, we often invite speakers to seminars in. They did not always have a great name, but are masters of their subject and provide new incentives to our coaches. More matching offers will soon follow
When it comes to grappling everything revolves around the current German Grappling League. How about that. It also provides active fighters?
We are in the current season for various reasons, not fighters.
