escaping armbars with my foot update

ya so this is just an update on this bizzare technique i stumbled on a couple weeks back. I've been using it in practice and pulled it off with a 75%-80% success rate in the last few weeks.

I don't really have a step by step description but basically the idea is to use your foot to pry the guys grip off your arm then roll into his guard. I should write it down right after I do it so I know what I'm doing. maybe it's just working so well because I'm rolling with mostly white belts.

ya so anyway I'm not claiming to have invented a new technique or anything I just think this is kind of a cool trick that I'm gonna have to look into a little more as time goes on.

    seacrest out.

i probably use a similar technique without thinking about it, sometimes... basically, its a jailbreak on their near leg while you're in an armbar, or something like that.... i dont think im gonna use it much anymore, since i improved the technique of my buck to the knees

to escape arm bar, i step my outside foot over my inside knee and turn my hips into them. get up to my knees and get my other hand to defend the arm. shrug their leg over your head and end up back in guard.

they can attempt a triangle on you doing this, so you have to have your triangle escapes ready to go. i prefer the step over

no. I'd like to drill the position in spiderweb and see how the escape works but most of the people I train with except for the blues and purples don't know too many variations. In fact, most don't even know who eddie bravo or what 10th planet is.

You need to drill and show everybody spiderweb. It is way harder to escape from and way higher percentage to finish from there. If two hands are on the arm and you have a grip, and he's not controlling the lower body, its easy to kick the hands off, hitch hike, bridge, thread and stack. All good and valid escapes rendered useless by spiderweb via deep hook and controlling the legs.
