    Lockdown speed

So in class I use to slap on the lockdown as quick as I could and stretch them out right away. But people, including my instructor, were complaining it hurt and told me not to do it because I could hurt someone. Fair enough, so now I take my time and put it in slowly, which is fine for now because none of them know how to defend it.

@ 10pjj schools how do you do it? I always thought it was a race for lockdown vs buttocks compressor.

Definiltely as quick as possible and stretch it out. The only time I wouldn't do it full speed is if my partner had an injury, that I didn't want to aggravate.

I've come to learn that calf cramps/soreness is a necessary evil if you want to train in the 10th planet system. :-) They can learn how to escape if they can't handle it.

Teach your partners how to escape that way both of you can improve. Don't be a big fish in a small pond.

lockdown fast as fuck when i get flattened out. stretch the fuck out of his leg and squeeze as hard as you can. the friction from gi pants and your squeeze will make it harder for him to pass.

watch for them turning sideways, extending the lockdown laterally on a leg that's sideways will bend it against the tendons. Some dudes will try to muscle out of the lockdown turning perpendicular to you twisting their leg sideways in your lockdown. Don't extend it when they do that (unless you hate them a lot) and I usually warn guys not to do that.

It's not suppose to be comfortable...I've definitely had folks hurting
and sore after a session of wrapping them up in the lockdown.

That's more on them for not being stretched and working those muscles more.
The good news is the more you do it to them, the less it will hurt in the future
as they gain strength in those muscles, and they will learn to stay away from it.
