    What was Werdum's plan?

Okay, he is as legit as they come right? And pulling guard was his best option to win imo. But how in the hell do you expect to keep a beast like Reem down without a strong ass overhook and head control? Eddie's said it for years, double wrist control dont cut it in mma. If Alistair was wearing a gi im sure Werdum would of had plenty of control. But his habits allowed him to just stand up easily. The one time he had double unders was the only time he controlled him in guard(where many of us were probably simutaneously yelling 'prison guard!'). Any way that was frustrating as shit. But seriously, what was his plan? Weight till he wildy swings and keep catching triangles and armbars due to careless mistakes? Im sure he knew that he saw the Fedor fight. Thoughts.

It was ridiculous. When you lose a match like that you are literally putting your entire MMA career on the line. The only way to further your career is to hit such a sick submission that everybody forgets about your 10 minutes of flopping and butt scooting. Otherwise, everybody know you as the fighter with no heart that didn't want to trade.

Sure, we could argue that Overeem lacked heart for not wanting to get into Werdum's "gward" but the real world of MMA fans don't view it that way.

Yeah dude. I don't get it. I'm sure, like me, you just yell at the screen whenever the top guy just rests his arm on the mat giving up a free new york.. and if you hate 10th planet.. a free overhook to omoplata. BJJ is not devoid of a clinch game but something about the gi training puts the clinch game at the bottom of the "to do" list.

I have trouble keeping an overhook when im training mma with no shirts. The sweat makes my jiu jitsu from the bottom turn into me getting punched in the face and throwing up wild armbars and triangles.

When I get punched in the face I scramble to hug the crap out of the dude, knowing that shutting down the distance will kill the sting on the punches. Actually, I was getting punched in a tangled pseudo half guard position so badly that I panicked, s gripped the back of my partners head, and yanked him into a clinch accidently dislocating his knee.

For me, the strikes actually make the hunt for over hooks easier... as long as they commit to real punches.

Werdum threw and landed more strikes.

IMO Yes we all know if he had played a rubber guard or prison guard he could have maybe set something up, but Werdum seems to be traditional in his approach to MMA.
I think he could train wrestling for 10 years and still not take Overeem down
I would have loved to see him just open up with punches even more, he was actually landing on Overeem and even though the Reem says he was ok he looked wobbled and confused.
Yet another example of how 10th planet could win you an mma fight
