UFC made official a new, exciting lightweight battle for UFC 135 on September 24. Top lightweights Takanori Gomi (32-7) and Nate Diaz (13-7) will meet at the event, which is scheduled to emanate from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Diaz will be returning to the lightweight division following back-to-back losses to bigger foes Rory MacDonald and Dong Hyun Kim.
Gomi, once considered the number one lightweight in the world during his impressive run in the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championships organization, comes into this fight at UFC 135 having gone 1-2 in his only three fights inside the UFC's octagon.
The Gomi-Diaz bout is slated for the undercard of UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage. The Jon Jones vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has yet to be officially announced by the promotion, but the UFC.com website does state the following regarding the main-event:
"Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former light heavyweight boss Rampage Jackson have verbally agreed to the clash, said UFC president Dana White."

UFC.com also confirms the following fights for UFC 135:
-Matt Hughes vs. Diego Sanchez
-Kid Yamamoto vs. Damacio Page
-Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt
-Travis Browne vs. Rob Broughton
