    grapevining the leg..????!!

Got practice in 3 and a half hours so hopefully someone can help me out with this...

I get into twister side control and everything is gravy it's all good.. sometimes the purples roll me but whatever. my issue is grapevining the leg. it seems like when they shrimp into me their top leg never crosses over the bottom so I have a tough time hooking it. I try guiding their leg with my hand but it's like they sense something coming and push against it... and of course their leg is stronger than my arm.

I usually stay in twister for a minute and try and hook the leg then go to standard side control and work my regular game for a minute. What's going on?? Should I spend all my time trying to get this down or what? My issue really isn't getting rolled, it's hooking the leg..

    help me out?

You can't force them to turn into you but if they do you use your top leg to peel their top leg back far enough to hook it with your bottom. You either get the leg or you get the mount.

Try smashing their face more with your back/ass. Sometimes that is enough to force them into a decision.

didn't say i was forcing them to turn into me, I meant guiding the leg with my hand when they already had turned into me. good advice about the top leg, makes more sense than using my arm to fight his leg.

For me.. (and im a white belt so take this with a grain of salt).. If i get twister side.. And they wont cross their far leg over.. I will usually just reach under there close leg and over there far one (somewhat like what you do when you guide their leg with your hand.. only in reverse).. And I will literally try to pull them onto their stomach. (usually you wont get them there.. but if you do then you can just get the truck from there and move on).. But assuming you dont get them onto their stomach.. They will usually then try to resist that by twisting the opposite way.. and when they do that.. let go and grab the leg as it crosses over so you can get the grapevine.. then proceed with the path of your choosing from there.

Im sorry but this doesn't make any sense are you talking about the fishnet after they turn on there side or are you saying you weave your arm through their legs when they are still on their back, knees up?
