    Competition Question

So My team and I have comp on saturday (my first comp)and I feel pretty good and ready Ive studied both books in and out even rewrote them in my own words (of course still need to rep everything to perfection) but my question is what is your game plan or the first thing you do in a match? for example for me I have not so good takedown but im really good at 100% and confident in my half guard so my game plan is pretty much either pull HG or 100% if they shoot on me

What do you guys think ?and what would you guys do?
    advice will be appreciated

Yeah Cookies right, you should be comfortable with at least one escape for each bad position.

Your strategy is always going to different from one person to another since we all all have different skills and preferences.

Relax, breathe, listen to your corner and have a good time!

If he shoots in on you with a single leg - scissor leg lock or roll into omaplata.

If he shoots in for a double leg. Guillotine for submission or use it to sweep.

If you get into trouble during take down, smash his head to the mat and limp leg out on single and get underhooks on double (after you shove his face in the mat)

If he happens to pass, get jailbreak asap and push to butterfly.

If u can't catch that, turn away to turtle and granby roll back onto him to catch him in your guard.

    Don't be nice.

But if your competing within a week, could be to late to try and add stuff to your gameplan since its your first tournament. And since it is, don't be afraid to create scrambles or just pull guard, I find pulling half guard or butterfly easier than full guard.

    To each his own.

If your wrestling isn't really that good (that's my problem too) you shouldn't even try and counter his takedowns or sprawl since your reflexes probably won't be good enough to do it if he's any good. If you're confident about your half-guard just get right in there and pull. Don't waste valuable time playing the wrestling game with the other guy if you're not 100% sure you'll take him down, chances are if he's a better wrestler he'll take you down.

The last thing you want is to be down 2 points for a takedown and just having 2 minutes left to work because you wrestled for too long. I say get right down in there grab whatever hook you can get and just drop. You'll be much calmer and have more time to work you're bottom game from there. Works like a charm. Hope that helped.

nice I believe Ill try the head kick lol but yea i got decent side control escapes actually pretty good with the ghost and jailbreaks but I agree I dont wanna wrestle and end up losing to a takedown in the last minute I planned on pulling HG always unless they shoot on me but you guys think I should pull guard instead or is HG better? ( I know it depends on the person but Im pretty good in guard and HG) thx again guys
