Hey everyone! I'm sure that this will reek of cheesiness, but I just wanted to introduce myself seeing as I'm the fucking new guy (FNG) around here and am looking forward to getting to know all of you. Anyway... my name is Loki Jones (obviously). I grew up in the northern "panhandle" of West Virginia in a small off-shoot steel town along the Ohio River that's about 45 minutes west of Pittsburgh, PA. I'm now living in the Denver metro area after having moved up from Colorado Springs once I finished my 5 year contract with the military. While I was in the Army I was an 18 Echo which is to say that I was a Special Forces Communications Sergeant. The Special Forces thing might ring a bell for those of you who have been following the Strikeforce promotion or the IFL before that because of my buddy Tim Kennedy who I became good friends with while making our way through the SF Qualification course. Unlike the Strikeforce commentary team during one of Tim's fights... this will probably be one of the few times that I ever bring up the military thing, but if any of you have questions about it feel free to ask.
Anyway... since I moved up to Denver I got accepted into the Pre-Med program at UC Denver where I'm working towards a BS in biology/chemistry in the hopes that I'll eventually get to do work as a research scientist/doctor. I pretty much love all forms of science regardless of whether it is astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, or even psychology so yeah lol I am a huge nerd, but I also love, love, love physical competition. The more "dangerous" the physical competition is the more the adrenaline junkie in me takes over, which is why for the last two years I've been fitting in as many jiu jitsu and muay thai/kickboxing classes into my schedule as I can at Trevor's Grudge Training Center in Wheat Ridge. While I love all of the people at Grudge I'm pretty much the only guy there that I know of who is really interested in Eddie's system. Probably has a lot to do with most of the guys there being the badass amateur wrestler types that do really well with just their wrestling and a bag full of the classic jiu jitsu subs. Me on the other hand lol I'm a tall, skinny guy that's pretty much the polar opposite of the diesel wrestler types that can primarily focus on their top game. I think I could really benefit from a system like Eddie's that seems to have more of a focus on cutting-edge "unorthodox" techniques from the guard.
So yeah... that's who I am, and that's why I'm "here". Looking forward to learning a lot, getting to know you all, and hopefully even getting to train with some of you.
LL&P!
