Lockdown / Whip up question - Need advice from those that have been there

Just a quick tip. You can always add deep half guard to your game when your double-under lockdown game isn't working .

^Agreed. Deep half is essential. You have to make deep half happen before they make quarter guard happen. It's like opening your guard, do it on your terms.

can someone help walk me through lockdown to deep half? like, the necessary situations and the transistions to it. I've been trying patrick jitsu (ie making it up) and of course that shit won't help

To TS, if they are wrapping your head up like that then you can (with double underhooks), use the forsaken whip up.

I recommend that you get the Jeff Glover dvds. If you have the lockdown, I wouldn't necessarily CHOOSE to go to the deep half. I feel like the deep half is very good but there is nothing between it and mount. However, if you are already in the lockdown and they pass further to quarter guard, you can turn that into the deep half. So learn entries from being mounted, with someone on your back, getting passed... that kind of thing.
