    Flying Techniques

Hey All i was wondering whether anybody here has attempted a flying technique in a bout and how effective these techniques could really be even with a solid understanding of the move?

I've ordered the Combat Sambo DVD by Reilly SomethingComb lol sorry i'm terrible with names and there's some very exciting techniques so i decided to try the flying triangle being my faviourite normal submission

and after about an hour i landed them nice and clean but still my training partner wasn't putting up the biggest fight and scrambling out of alot of them...and obviously i know there needs to be alot more reps then one hour

im just wondering if they are moves that can be pulled off in comp why we don't see more attempted as a pose to circling for 2 mins looking for a double?

any insight would be great because i have this fantasy notion that once i've got these techniques down i'll be the 6'4 shinya aioki lol

I tried a flying armbar from the clinch, but lost the arm only time ive tried it apart from drilling.

that combat sambo dvd is awsome. the most significant reason why you probably don't see a lot of flying techniques is because as you'd probably guess, theyre not the kind of moves that people drill at the start of class. the last thing most people will do in competition is hunt for moves that they haven't drilled enough reps into.
check out Vinny Magalhaes at the last adcc, though. he pulled off some sick flying armbars.

I drill flying submissions and have caught them in local tournaments.Reilly Bodycomb is awesome, he's got a killer scissors sweep.

My friend took down his account that had a couple more of mine. Not tryin to bost, just pointin out with proper setup and commitment, they are not risky at all. I bait the collar tie for the flyin armbar and catch flyin tri's and omo's off the overhook regularly as well. Worst case scenario for me is a deep ass guard. I also love scissor takedowns but alot of comps and ammy mma dont allow them. Love rolling omos, kimuras, and footlocks as well.

I hit flying armbars in sambo here and then. Worst case scenario, I'm in DLR or reverse DLR, and I'm very comfortable off my back.
