Most of the time bigger guys dont have a good high guard. The most dangerous closed guard ive seen from a strong guy involves the anaconda choke from guard, that can get me.

Against this case study, id say relax and dont try so hard to break - he will most likely have to open to attack. Let me know if that is not the case and your dealing with a high level closed guard, but let him open and force half guard. One of my go-to's, cause not a whole lot of people at my school can fuck with me without opening their guard.

Now against big strong guys in general, when NOT in their guard, OMOPLATAAAAA

Once you put the elbows down into the thighs, your posture is compromised. Once the legs are apart you can put one elbow in the thigh, but putting two, esp with hand on hips, tips you forward, no way around it, and against a monster = doom.

You might want to try standing up to open his guard. When I go against a bigger stronger opponent I have very limited success if I try to stay on my knees to open his guard, but when I stand up it becomes much easier. Also if you're opponent is bigger than you, you can never let him get a kimura grip, because even if you defend correctly he still may be able to finish it. I know this is easier said than done, but if you keep your arms in the right place and your elbows in tight it will make it pretty difficult for him to get the correct grip.
