    Scott Sonnon Saddle Series

Has anyone seen this? A friend is willing to sell it to me for cheap, and I wanted to make sure it is worth my precious few dollars (I guess you could say, I want to know if it makes cents.....GET IT?). Any input on the Saddle Series, or Scott Sonnon in general, would be cool (looking at you, hertzhog).

Sorry I haven't seen the series (I've heard good and bad about it). Without delving into Sambo politics, I'd save my money.

Agreed, I've seen some sonnen stuff from mma vault. Sitck to Herzog's and Bodycomb's techniques that you can find on youtube. They stick with the functional stuff and throw out all the "parlor tricks" that you might land on a rookie. Bodycomb has a DVD out too, its not bad.

There is some good stuff on Sonnon's dvd. The leg triangles principles and some of the transitions between the positions is worth the money if you can get the dvd's cheap. Reilly's set is 100% worth the money.

What Sambo instructionals would you recommend?

All depends on what you'd like to get out of them. Are you looking for leg locks, arm locks, throws, hold downs, transitions, Military/Combat Sambo (not combat sambo the sport but for H2H combat), etc. ? Sambo is a well rounded martial art and there are videos out there that cover a large amount of it.

Leg locks definitely. I've always loved the straight ankle lock and used to finish pretty often in sparring but now all my training partners can defend it and they either pass and escape. Is there a dvd that focuses on controlling and maintaining the position?

If you have a demonoid account you can get the Bodycomb's dvd via a torrent.
