My last Pro Fight: Striking from High and Rubber Guard

First of all let me introduce myself, my name should be obvious and I have known Eddie for some time now. He pointed me this way.

I recently had a fight in which the 10th planet system more or less saved my ass. The video should be on youtube by next week but here are some pictures in the meantime:

I would have probably continued to take more G&P from the traditional guard and this would have been alot worse let alone not being able to set up my subs:

    Thanks Guys,

This might be the most badass thread I've ever read. For realzors. Strikes me as what some of Palahniuk's Fight Club would be like if it was done as a graphic novel that was told through the internet. Anyway... I forget exactly how the transition went since I only had time to watch the video once, but did you go MC to Meathook to Triangle or just MC to the Triangle. Either way... well played man.

How much bigger was this guy? You need to stop battling against all these bears Tom.

    You guys crack me up!

Jones you must have learned some trolling from the UG.
As far as the setup (and please understand Im just a lowly 3 stripe Gracie Barra) and not a 10th planet expert by any means, I can go through it and what was going on in my head from an MMA perspective.

Why I went to RG to begin with...Size does matter Lets start with the slam:
We square off and I throw a jab and a right. I know 3 things going in
    1. Im in better shape but much smaller
    2. Neither Butterbean nor Baroni were able to put him away with strikes
    3. It wasn't will I be taken down but when and on what terms

Throw a job. Miss nicely. Throw a two and it barely clips his dome to 0 effect. He looks like he is about to load up so I throw a Push kick and it puts him against the corner of the ropes (not the same ones from Never Back Down Chris but who knows!?...Maybe from #2?..I should have kept a buckle..damn it!) We start to pummel and I realize "Holy shit this 30lbs is making a big difference and start curning unsanctioned events and my own decision making process" but I cant give away double under-hooks so I continue to work. I get my left arm out and throw 3 hooks in tight in da liiiver and feel a little give. I put him in what should have been a plum clinch but as soon as I grab on he simply points his head up. I hold on like one of those degenerates we used to pull off the dancing cage pole when I used to bounce and am able to manage to keep some head control. Lets call is half a plum. So knee to the chin option is gone so I go to the body. Not his first rodeo so hes all ready to block. 1st one hits glove and forearm. 2nd one sneaks past his guard and lands well enough for me to pull his head down some. Then I figure hes already blocking up the middle..why don't I just come up and around for the temple? BIG MISTAKE

Enter the SLAM. The camera does a poor job of capturing video, the audio is quite clear and painful to me, my brain is foggy on this but I do remember him under-hooking my right leg as it comes up and around and then somehow us being no where near the corner. It wasn't a leg trip he launched me for sure! My friends and I were looking at the footage and I get one of these "Why didn't you just do a jumping triangle when he had the under-hook or finish him that way when you landed brah!?" I figure that's what things look like when your not in but watching from the outside. The best I can remember I was on the tilt-a-whirl from when I was 5 because everything was spinning and all I can hear was screams and cheers and at least 1 of those annoying kids was yelling please stop the ride! I empathized.

I guess by instinct alone I reached up towards his head and wrapped my legs around him pulling him down. As I started re-organizing my marbles all I saw was gloves flying at me really fast! Looks like I covered well. This time I grabbed on and held on better. It certainly seemed like he wanted to play G&P from the guard and my bottom game is fairly developed so I was confident, all things considered, there.
I pull down his neck and break posture with my legs bringing him in tight and the same result! He bursts by guard open and more G&P. He is smart. Has control of me and his head is dead center. This time it feels like a few wasps landed in my mouth and stung away. He probably wanted to rest for a moment realizing I wasn't going anywhere yet. I didn't want to find out how many wasps would land 3rd time around let alone where so I switched to something Ive been playing with for years; Rubber Guard.
His right hand is right there on the mat for me, Im not religious but I thought thank God!, as I pulled RG. Free pass to New York! I hug my knee and pinch my thigh in hard, wrist firmly over his neck/head and he is officially broken in posture. I felt him stacking up but I pinched with my right hip more and hugged the arm harder and my ankle tighter to let him know it wasn't opening that way. I decide to throw a few punches and hug my knee again as a test. The risk paid off! as he just left his hand there on the mat! In fact, for reason I don't really understand he dug his arm deeper. I started with punches and elbows all while pulling down really hard with my hand over ankle. I move to crack head control and get my right arm out to the other side since I had his left arm trapped making it hard for him to square up and ideal for me to make a decent angle. Hammer-fists and elbows. I start to feel like Im going to lose crack head as my legs were starting to slip down his sweaty back (forgot the damned ankle sleeves and knee pads at home!..) so I went for the omo-plata. I stiff armed his face and got my leg over. He based his left arm out and left an opening and I jumped on it! TRIANGLE. That's by far and away the best sub I have, the few finishes I have ever pulled off on GB Brown Belts have been with it. I adjusted and re-adjusted getting his arm in front of his throat and my legs at over basically only his arm and corroded. I knew that thing was sunk so I went 100% for it reaching my free arm around and under in case he tried to stack and slam and just about blew a gasket! No way was getting out!? I feel something on my right side and I see its him tapping frantically. I was telling the ref "hes tapping" but he didn't see. Maybe drunk>? I yelled, hes out! I gather he was snoring for 5 seconds or more in my triangle when the world's worst ref pulled me off. In the gym I would have let go but he could have been playing dead or recomposed himself and then shook it off so no way I was letting go until I was sure! Afterwards he laid there arm stiff making weird breathing noises when I let go. To be honest I felt kind of bad.

Eddie saw the raw footage but the video is private now until Submissions101 puts it up this weekend. I didn't count but Id say within a 45 second span he ate EASILY over 30 straight punches, elbows, and hemmer-fists to just about the same spot on his temple/ear which has to make even the biggest of dome headed wrestlers dizzy! He may have slapped my ribs a few times but I consider them unanswered shots. I think the accumulation of that and the lack of air from the triangle I sunk shortly there after made him go stiff and breathe in that way. Luckily he was good and I got the win!

I contacted Master Eddie and thanked him for saving my ass! I have known Eddie for a while now and actually I took him to a bar I used to bounce at and he laughed as I got involved in a big fight since my friends, teh bouncers, were getting mauled. Well, Im not here to promote any system. I love the traditional GB BJJ Im learning, but its a fact that if I tried to set up that triage from wrist control or even continued trying to break his posture in a more traditional manner that I would have ate more G&P. He knows when a traditional triangle is coming Im certain. Rubber Guard definitely saved my ass here.

And for that thank you guys !!!
