    The is a product called SOMATAMAX, not only will it put you in REM sleep, but also has some recovery/metabolism/bone density/muscle mass/ mood elevator....Remember GHB? I think they are cousins. Side effects are euphoria and diarrhea. Makes you feel all tingly for a bit....take a half scoop despite what the container says....trust me on that bro.

    could be endorphins still going from night training. use to happen to me getting the adrenaline going at night mma training then getting up early in the morning for work. Eating late night after training would put me to sleep, but then i started gaining to much weight. Melatonin works for a little while. Benzos are too addictive unless you really really need them, once you stop taking em it becomes near impossible to sleep and anxiety issues become worse. Meditation works best for me. I dont know exactly just how fast your mind is racing at night. what you eat is huge. Also coffee/caffeine takes 9 hours to get out of the body if you drink any. There so much new sleep aids out now I dont really know new stuff works and wont have side effects. Wish I could help more. I know that feeling of no sleep causing me to do little mistakes through out the day and not working at 100 percent

    Turn the tv and computer off. Read a boring book, something really boring for 30 mins. Now your ready for some self love (masterbation). If that don't work take Ambien!

    Do you have Mercury fillings? Mercury poisioning is one of the key aspects for many Insomniacs as it affects your nervous system profoundly. It can greatly increase thinking and anxiety levels in a person to the point that it interferes with sleep patterns. I would suggest having them removed immediately should you have any. Even just one filling is quite problamatic. However you would need to get them removed by a Dentist trained in Mercury removal. A conventional Dentist who just removes them without the proper protocols can actually make the Mercury levels much worse in your body. Here is a list of Dentists trained in proper removal.

    Also it is highly likely that you could be EMF sensitive. Many do not understand humans are electrical beings first and foremost. The basis of our cells is Electrical NOT Chemical. EMFs can interfere with your nervous system in a way you do not consciously perceive but now more and more studies are showing just what kind of effect they can have. I would suggest you remove EVERYTHING electrical from your room. PC, Laptop, TV etc and do not keep your cell phone out of there as well (Use a battery alam clock at the other side if the room instead). Although Cell phones produce a different type of wavelength (radio waves) they can still interfere with your bodys natural function. I would also keep your bed away from the wall as they are likely full of wire cables (Although you could turn of the electricity to your room before you go to bed.

    Also I would suggest you research Earthing technology.

    This is not a field of quakery. It has been well researched over the last few years by many prominent people with Phds after their names who have explained the science of how it works. By walking Barefoot on the earth you pick up free electrons from the ground. These play a vital role in calming the nervous system and helping the body function more efficiently. You cannot get these electrons by wearing shoes. Interesting to note we are the only species that wear them and they block the electron transfer. We are also the only species (other then domesticated animals) who do not sleep connected to the earths surface.     This explains all the science and research studies behind the concept. However if your Insomnia is due to Mercury poisioning then it is unlikely to cure your problem. However it will help with relaxation levels and combined with getting rid of the Mercury in your body will likely give you significant benefits.

    Finally your Diet will also play a pivotal role in your health and your nervous system. There are so many books but I have found the best for beginners is Dr Mercolas 'Take control of your health'. I have to say the book is far from perfect but I think it's a good place to start.

    I hope you have found some of this information usefull as you can probably guess I myself suffered from the same problem you do. You have to start from the beginning if you are to cure health problems. When there is posionous shit in your body and it's electrical nature is being disturbed then of course that is going to cause problems. There are many reasons why Babys and children can sleep so easily anywhere. In my opinion it is because they do not have Mercury poisioning interfering with their nervous systems and their bodies have not absorbed so many EMFS like adults do. That is why in my view even when some people can 99% eliminate stress from their lifes they still cannot sleep. Think also why Tribes people who live in nature do not suffer from Insomnia probems like us in Industrialised societies.

    Forgot to mention also like others have said. Avoid strenuous exercise and eating a big meal at least two hours before you go to bed. Also avoid electrical stuff like Tvs and laptops etc in the hours before you sleep.

    A heavy indica usually does the job and then some, personally. I also find that rubbing one out makes me pretty sleepy... Usually, if both activities are executed in succession, theres no way to lose.

    Take a cold shower (at least 15 min) about an hour before you want to fall asleep. If you really want to see results, take an ice bath. Along with all of the other health benefits of cold exposure, it is a surefire way to combat insominia. I learned about it in the four hour body by Tim Ferriss. Let me know how it goes.

    Kava Kava seems to help some people. I know that when I combine Kava with Melatonin it knocks my ass out.
