So I went & got two wash cloths & wet them, one under hot water & the other under cold water... I put soap in the hot one and begin to scrub the infection which softened the surface of the skin... I put the cold wash cloth in my mouth & bit down hard!!! I started squeezing that fucker as hard as I could for about a minute and a half & then finally: BOOM!! This white infectious core shot out of my elbow at a speed that had to be at least 200 mph & slammed right into my bathroom mirror... It bled out like a son of a bitch so I had to hold pressure on it to stop the bleeding & when it finally did, I put anti-biotic ointment on it & wrapped it up with a huge bandage & medical tape... I had a small crater in my arm for several weeks... I guess the moral of this story is: buy medical insurance or be prepared to hurt ALOT!!!
I'm glad to hear you didn't lose your arm altogether or end up septic in an ICU.
Note for others from a health care professional:
***DON'T TRY TO "POP" A STAPH INFECTION!!!*** Your immune system works very hard to wall off the infection while it's being fought; that's why it forms a pocket of material (when the infection is isolated and not already systemic or tunneling). Abcesses, infected joints, and boils need to be drained with a sterile needle to prevent introducing bacteria into the blood stream. If it can't be drained with a syringe it needs to be opened surgically and irrigated very well. Popping an infected cyst or abcess opens the capsule that has formed and allows blood and bacteria to mix -- which allows a port of entry for the bacteria to go system-wide. Yeah the ER copay sucks balls if you don't have insurance but an ICU costs a lot more and being dead will really slow down your jiu jitsu game.
