POLL: Am I being too tough on affiliates??

I give my non-black belt affiliate instructors 2 ways to get promoted.

1. Compete and post your matches on this forum so that we can all see where you're at.

or

2. If you can't compete for whatever reason, (permanent injury or too busy teaching and raising a family) you must come to 10th Planet Headquarters to get promoted.

I feel that if you don't compete AND you can't make it to HQ to test then you don't have enough fire inside of you to represent 10th Planet properly.

What do you guys think?

This seems perfectly fair to me. Literally can't see an example where someone couldn't do one of these two things.

That sounds perfect to me. If someone doesnt train with you regularly how else can you judge to see where they are at then with actual stressful competitions or in person

In life you have to make sacrifices for what you want. Getting promoted isn't a NEED, its a WANT. If you want to get promoted, you’re going to have to make sacrifices, period. I know the sacrifices I've made, and will continue to make. I know what I WANT and I'm willing to work my ass off, and I'll be better for it.

Everyone wants to get to the top of the mountain. It’s HOW we make it to the top that sweetens the victory. I could take a helicopter, a beat up old bus, or I can climb and claw, tooth and nail my way to the top. I know which one I will appreciate and savior the most when I get there.

I knew you would agree with my rules, you have always been one of the hardest working, one of the most dedicated instructors in 10th Planet history. You have produced quite a few phenoms like Scott Yockel, the rising 10th Planet superstar

I don't think there is anything wrong with those requirements. This is part of why 10P has so much higher quality belts than other systems.

I don't think so. You can't go promoting people all willy nilly without evaluating what their skill level is.
Their promotion is Your Word that the person receiving the promotion is legit and a qualified representative of TPJJ, your reputation is on the line. You give people two options, if you can’t compete and you want that promotion, save your pennies for a trip to HQ.
I don't want TPJJ to turn into a mail order belt distributor. This is just my opinion. Others may feel differently.

Think the system is fine the way it is Eddie!!! Tottaly agree on the fire in the belly statement. If someone won't come to HQ then they definetly don't want it enough in my opinion.

Ill be competing a lot. Im coming off a long break, but I kept studying the whole time. I just need to get some repetitions of new stuff in so I wont look bad in the advanced division. I wanna try my Jujuju on my new teammates at Imperial starting next weekend. crazy stuff
