Did anybody notice anything strange about the Belfort/Sexyama fight?

Maybe it was just me, but I noticed that the punch that seemed to bring down Sexyama didn't even touch him. I'd have to see the replay again. Maybe he was already rocked before the phantom punch, but I didn't see it. Or perhaps the phantom punch glanced off his head? Not sure. But to me, it looked like it totally missed and he just fell down.

I kind of thought that after the first replay, but I think it glanced off his temple after further review.

Was just talking to my uncle about the same thing... Didn't see the hit, and it just didn't seem real, even in the replay. We were watching the fights on a gigantic TV in HD to boot. I have no idea what that was, but I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed.

Only one angle really showed the impact. I thought the same thing until I saw the right angle where it impacts and glances off of his temple.

Yeah we thought that too when we watched it, seems like it glazed over him (the force of the wind as we joked). Sudden end to the fight...

ya that fight was really weird. it seemed like akiyama was deliberately staying out of the pocket. that jab that wasn't even close, then the backing up front kick right before that phantom ko was really weird too. it was like it was like he was TRYING not to inflict any damage.

I don't know guys this fight really gave me some Coleman/Takada vibes. Maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions.

The hit that ko'd him was one of the few right handed punches Belfort threw in that barrage, and it came from under the armpit, similar to the one that Henderson used against Fedor.

And similarly Belfort continued his assult with punches to the back of the head and neck until Akiyama was motionless. Another back of the head beating after the knockdown/K.O.
