Roger Gracie quote about the % of BJJ that transfers to MMA?

Hey everyone. I heard a rumor about Roger Gracie making an unflattering statement about the percentage of gi jiu jitsu that transfers to MMA. I'm looking for that quote and it's source. I figured every single poster here would know it offhand

Was it published in a reputable magazine or website, or is it just an unsubstantiated rumor?

Its not misqouted or a rumor I've read it a few times, it was from and actual interview that he did I believe it was was with a website. For some reason I think it may have been OTM.

“Punching changes the game completely,” said Gracie. “70-80 percent of what I do in submission competition I couldn’t do in an MMA fight. The moves will expose you to getting hit. So you have to limit your moves to the ones you can do safely where you don’t get hit.”

Thank you so kindly, but this quote only implies that 20 to 30 percent of grappling can be safely transferred to MMA. Is there a quote where he mentions gi grappling specifically?

Actually it implies that's only 20-30% of what he does in submission competition works in mma... basically implying that most of his jiu jitsu background wont work. Don't be surprised man... think about it for a second.

It implies it rather than directly saying it, which is pretty great, but not perfect

yes, but the 30% that does work, works better than any other fighter in the game besides for maybe Demian Maia, Werdum, or Jacare. Actually probably even better than them.
