Jonathan,
I think you are on the right track, but I will add to it.
Here are my pics
1. Glock 19 (9mm) w/laser sight.
2. M4 w/9mm upper that accepts glock mags equipped with an eo tech red dot.
3. Crowbar
4. a Gerber multi-tool
5. For the wildcard, id take someone who is trained in combat trauma care (Navy Corpsman or Army Medic) who is a shooter and equally equipped.
Now the why.
I chose the glock because it is an incredibly reliable pistol and the 9mm is easy to procure. Also, mag capacity is critical. In a zombie situation where you would be dealing with hoards, running out of bullets or constant reloading is time consuming. the 1911 is a fantastic weapon but the standard single stack only accepts 7 rounds. thats 7 dead zombies to the glocks 15+ and glock offers 33 round extended mags which brings me to my second choice.
the M4 platform with the 9mm upper that accepts glock magazines. this should be obvious but ill explain anyway. carrying one type of ammo instead of many makes life easier for you. also the same magazine for both weapons makes things easier. you shouldnt be engaging zombies (the slow ones) at anything beyond 50 or so feet because you should simply be able to run around them.
i chose the crowbar because this is perfect for clubbing zombies. It also is great for prying open doors, smashing car windows, busting into safes whatever you think might have food, extra bullets, or whatever else to help you stay alive.
the gerber multi tool is incredibly useful for numerous things like weapons maintenance, opening canned goods, etc etc... its like a damn leatherman. there really isnt any point to stabbing a zombie. especially when you have a damn crowbar to destroy its dome if you ran out of bullets.
chosing a trauma medic is good in case you get injured fleeing or handling illnesses or infections of the non zombie kind you might get from just being roamers. it should also be obvious why you would want someone who is a shooter so you arent carrying around dead weight and they can contribute to the effort of staying alive and defense.
