YES..... Steven Segal was a real Seal. But like I said he wasn't there for his fighting skill. Dude speaks like 6 languages. Richard Marcinko said what made him a key member of the team was covert opperation on the phone. His language skill were so good, he would be on the phone speaking in the native language (whatever 1 of the 6 he knew, that was needed at that time) and he spoke it so perfectly, no one could tell him from a native. Marcinko spoke of him speaking chinese so well one time, the person on the phone thought they grew up in the same province. So no matter what kind of cartoon character Segal is today, At one time he was a bad ass !!! lol.

My pick for a Marcinko book, is Green Team. But there all pretty freaking good.

As a 7th dan in Aikido maybe Seagal is a badass, but, I am sorry Conner, Seagal was never a Navy SEAL, in fact he was never in the military. He played an ex-SEAL in the Under Seige movies... I have read several times where Seagal makes vieled claims that he killed for the CIA on top secret missions and such but have no reason to believe they are anything other than b.s.

Marcinco must have been joking around or something... and don't forget that except for Marcinco's first book and his business book, everything else he ever wrote was fiction.

p.s. It looks like he does mention Seagal once in his novel Red Cell when he says, "On my way north on Avenue of the Stars half a dozen chattering teenage girls, with $100 dollar jeans with holes in the knees, po' boy sweaters and imitation boondockers asked if I was Steven Seagal. No, I said, smiling, I really DO kill people for a living."

Hate to burst your bubble Jimmy Olson, but if Segal wasn't a seal, you may want to get ahold of the father of Seal team 6...... Richard Marcinko and tell him that. He goes into detail about Segal in his book The Real Team published in 1999.......holding a copy of it in my hand right now. Read it about a year ago.

Also looking thru the books Ive read and may have to change my pick for best..... Forgot how good Rogue Warrior was and it is the first one he wrote. So may want to start with that one

He has written 15 or 16 books, I have read 6 of them so far..... But my point being, just looked thru ReAL Team again and Marcinko calls Segal a tall skinny kid that he thought would wash out everyday of Bud school. But made it thru on balls and heart and became a valuable member of the team.

The joke about really killing people was Marcinko was more a pat on the back for himself than a slam at Segal. I guess he kinda thought he was a sell out for taking the movie route. In fact I think it was a made up story by Marcinko for a funny line in his book. I'm sure no one ever misstook him for Segal since Segal 6'6 and Marcinko is
5'7 on a good day.lol.

Every biography found online doesn't even mention him being a SEAL, in fact most of them even deny the question by saying he only played one in the movies. Maybe it's a secret that only that guy knows.

Connor I hate to say it but I Really don't think Seagal was a seal. I think that guy has blurred the lines between fiction and real life.
