A JiuJitsu Vagabond... the modern day roaming Samurai

What do you guys think? I'm 21 years old, and it's time I did something drastic and life changing. I've heard alot of talk on the forums about people head to HQ to train, but what if I wanted to pack up and make the move out there permanantly. I'm assuming it's harder than it seems. You have to acquire a job, place to live, then obviously incur the fees to train. Anyone got ideas?

Think it through, search out people who've done it before and ask them what mistakes they made so you can avoid them as well as advice on what to do.

It's harder than you think, sometimes a big savings is needed to start yourself up there. But I say go for it!

You should consider going to Montreal to train. Honestly believe that you would have more fun. I don't think you Americans quite understand how nice of a city it is.
That is unless you wanna do that Hollywood thing.

To actually move to a city you should probably save up 3-5 grand depending on the cost of living. Then you have to prop yourself up on temp jobs until you find full time employment.

I have a cousin though who travels around the world. He'll usually save up a grand and then hit the plane. When he lands he supports himself by busking (playing music in the streets), random art jobs, and menial labor. He will usually live out of hostels, squat in houses, sleep in terminals or stay with a friend while he's traveling abroad.

I guess it depends on your required quality of life.

Much better. Spend some time here while really ironing out your plan before head out. Learn from the mistakes of others. But when I was 21 I couldnt be told anything. But I would utilize local resources first.

Nate, you could drive the hour and half to Rochester or move there...cost of living in Rochester is much cheaper than LA. Then hit all the Eddie seminars!

Does anyone know the typical living costs in Rochester? It's time I get myself out of Syracuse, and if it's within reach I could make the move. Plus I have friends who go to school there so it's not like I'd be leaving anything serious behind
