Im gonna compete sept 17th. and the rules are the same as ibjjf rules. I was wondering if the Japanese necktie and short arming to get the darce are illegal since they are both frontal neck cranks.

As far as I know... cranks that look like chokes are legal.

Japanese necktie is a choke. It *can* be a crank, but properly applied it's a choke. Anybody who disagrees, should watch Bryan's highlight below. Typically, you don't go unconscious from a neck crank.

haha the last thing I would want to do is hurt someone. Unless there douchebags haha. Reason I asked was because I keep asking the officials of the tournament and every response is see the "ibjjf rules". And Thats during phone calls.

Then thats whats Ill do. Its my first tournament ever. Im excited. Im gonna enter in the beginner divisions cause I want my blue belt!!!!! Im determined. I should take some floatys cause Im gonna be "Swimming" all day!!! Hope they keep their arms protected!!! haha
